Business FTTPoD

@dabigm we'll keep our fingers crossed for you and hope you get your money back!

@dabigm If you don't get any refunded back take Openreach to high court keep all your recording phone / video calls as it need all the evidence.

For the sum involved use small claims, you then have protection from having to pay their costs if you fail. And you can't get to the high court without first starting at a lower court and then either party appealing the decision and an appeal being allowed.

OP has no contract with Openreach - only the ISP / CP whom he ordered with. Therefore any claim is with them.

In any event it’s unlikely to escalate to this level of drama. If this is what I think it is, then Bob will sort it over a phone call.

Handbags down ladies.

This sometimes does work out in a more straightforward manner... I asked Cerberus for an FTTPoD desk survey in May 2020. It came back a week later as 'unable to quote... FTTP is already planned for this location'.

The exchange appeared in the Openreach build programme document a few months later, and was completed around August 2021.

Anyway, good result here. You'll probably find an altnet is hot on Openreach's heels - that was what happened to me. Waiting for FTTP in some places is like waiting for a bus... two turn up at once.

Just bumping this as openreach will not come to our business no matter how much we ask! Can anyone recommend a way forward please?

If high speed, high quality connectivity is important to your business, then buy a leased line.

Expect to pay in the ballpark of £300 per month for 1G/1G symmetrical on a 3 year contract, although it depends on exactly where you are and which providers are available where you are. There may also be Excess Construction Costs if you are not close to any existing leased line network.

Leased lines are usually installed within a 3-4 month timescale - much faster if the network already has a presence in your building.

If you are a small business that can't afford £10 per day, then you can look into 4G/5G wireless options; and if those aren't available then there's always Starlink, which costs around £100 per month once you've taken the power requirements of the terminal into consideration.

They say they won't come but they will. Eventually all lines will be upgraded. You just don't know when. If you have bad Openreach speeds you might be a good target for altnets, depending on construction costs.

Find works around your area to identify Altnets close to you, sign up with them to show your interest. Ask your neighbours to do the same:
https://bidb.uk/

Enable the Altnet FTTP filter to see Altnets coverage. Then flip each altnet filter one by one to identify them by name and again sign up with them to show your interest. Ask your neighbours to do the same:
