Cable Vs ADSL

The Cable contention ratio is higher than of ADSL but cable is definetly faster than ADSL.

If your a vampire like me :p Your best to use cable as it's faster when everyones sleeping than ADSL (Even though I have ADSL) :p

All the 1Mb+ ADSL I've seen's been 256 upstream, just wondering if anyone does differently. Since BT supply virtually everyone's product, I doubt it other than the odd unbundled service, or perhaps Kingston. Those were the ones I was wondering about.

And cable contention is lower than ADSL, in terms of the number of customers expected to share a unit of bandwidth.

Not only is there never a chance of me getting cable (even though in the franchise), I haven't even had a play with broadband.

If having it wasn't enough!

Well i think i have shared my opinion in this matter. Everything i say people bite my ear off about it. You people already have your opinion and i respect that. I also respect the fact that most major companys that review broadband seem to suggest ADSL over Cable. No doubt some smart ass is gonna ask me which companys.... DONT ASK because i dont have those mags anymore, but just to let you know that i also read on ISPreview that ADSL is better than Cable, no these guys cant be wrong can they? <img border="0" alt="[Shrug]" title="" src="graemlins/shrug.gif" />

Tends to come down in the end to what you can get. Outside of London you generally lucky if you can get Broadband at all. To have a choice would be a real luxery for most.

My view is Cable is a much superier technology without any of the problems of ADSL

Why arn't you pestering your cabel company to cabel your area (you'll probably find some one has a licence to cable yur area.)

If think if a company holds a licence to provide a phone service in an area they should at least have a USO in the area they hold the licence (Even if its cut back from BTs a little).

I think there is only 2 people on my exchange that wants broadband and 1 of those people is me. I dont think 2 votes for ADSL or Cable are going to make anyone go through the cost of fitting us with it
