Calls/Texts on Ethernet

is this a joke?

my boss doesn't like "RF". But still wants calls on a mobile with flight mode on. Is it april 1st again? Here show your boss this ...

Okkkkk I’m not as tech savvy or as tech lipped as most people on this site, clearly. My boss has a thing against emf/rf radiation so he insists on using airplane mode and use hard wired internet. However, thus far, I haven’t found anything that allows texts or calling to work properly while connected using a Ethernet dongle to a Verizon carrier iPhone. And not through having to get another phone number and use another texting app. So I’m to see if there are solutions to this? Does that make sense?
Does he actually want a mobile at all?

Why not just use an ordinary landline / VoIP from a laptop - he can used a wired headset if Bluetooth is too scary!

Or leave the iPhone in another room/place well away from the user for any RF/EMF exposure and just connect to it using a iPad or MacBook - you can make and receive regular mobile calls and texts from the phone - just needs to be on the same network as the tablet/laptop which could be wired at the laptop end and just WiFi at the phone.

That’s how I use my phone from my home office when it’s upstairs in the bedroom for example.

If he's concerned about the (negligible) RF emissions from wifi, then why isn't he concerned about the electromagnetic waves emanating from the mains wiring at 50Hz? Or the Cat5 ethernet cable? Or the kettle?

He's happy to accept "information" from nutjobs on the Internet about wifi radiation, but not from scientists and technicians who measure and evaluate this stuff. Or take the trouble to measure it for himself.

It's like flat-earthists. The paradoxical thing about them is, they don't actually want to know whether the earth is flat or not - which, given that this is central to their belief system, you'd think they would.

Anybody who wants to know whether the earth is flat or not has hundreds of ways available of testing this for themselves. Even the ancient Babylonians were able to do that.

I used to work in a factory with an Induction furnace with a 5 Tonne aluminium alloy melting capacity, warnings about those with pacemakers not to approach were prominent. After 20 years walking past it on a regular basis with no issues I fail to follow any tin hat theories on what ever frequency/technology is the scare of the day.

We must differentiate between genuine issues and the insane claims against RF.

Anywhere where heavily powered equipment or machinery is being used in industry EMF is real and hence why we have legislation. https://www.hse.gov.uk/radiation/nonionising/emf-regulations.htm
The equipment rooms under the old mega watt TV transmitters were another example. Having said that signs were meant more likely to reduce any liability rather any risk otherwise you wouldn't have been allowed to be near it.

The power we use generally in generating non ionising RF is safe but risk assessment is still required for those working in close proximity for prolonged periods.
