Can you record TV to std format DVD?

Hi,

I need a favour - a relative will be a mascot at the upcoming England v Scotland legends football match this Thursday and obviously we'd like to have a DVD of it. The problem is that none of us owns a TV DVD recorder - we have about 3 HDD recorders, but that isn't much use.

Can anyone record ITV4 onto DVD and do me a massive favour?

Happy to pay for dvd/postage cost, obviously.

Andy

I only have one of those HDD recorders too :( , I think there is a DVD recorder somewhere but I get the feeling it's now in the hands of my sister whom resides in Plymouth.

a video capture device would allow you connect a vcr to your pc and something like pinnacle studio software which usually comes with the device can convert the video to your harddrive and then to dvd if you have a dvd burner

Yeh but I can't afford to shell out for new hardware, especially to record 1 program.

If I was going to use it regularly then I would, but my HDD recorder is fine 99.9% of the time.

record it on the hdd then keep it till you can maybe get the chance to borrow a dvd recorder to transfer it to
as a short term solution

I will do that anyway, simply because I want to have a copy of it.

I can offer the services of my trusty (of sorts) video recorder

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone in my family has a video any more., but thanks.

is it possible to record it to your hdd and then pop the HD into a pooter if it does not have a usb connection and then transfer the file to the pc and convert it?

or I could ask a relative who does have this...but what channel is it on?

Hmmm... hadn't thought of swapping the hdd out - I've certainly technically competent enough to do this, but I don't know what format my HDD recorder will use (it's a Sharp TUR160H). I'll try to find out.

It's on ITV4.
