After 7 months of uninterrupted service with V21, I'm needing to close my account due to the fact that I am leaving the country in 3 days time. Today I arranged to have my BT phoneline switched off on Wednesday, and followed the directions on the v21 website, hence faxing a letter to their offices requesting a cancellation of my account (pending a 28 day wait period!).
Looking further into the problem, I see that there is no way to leave v21. These "gangsters" will continue to deduct payment from my credit card on a reoccurring basis. I've called my credit card company, whose only advice was to have the charges disputed after they've been debited. Considering the fact that this could go on for a long time, I'm not sure if thats a good option.
The biggest problem right now is that I am returning permenantly to my country of origin in a few days time, and will not be able to follow up anything from there in regards to legal action, nor will I have the option of officially declining any "free tickets if you stick with V21 'offers' " as I will be moving addresses. Furthermore, as my BT phoneline will be permenantly disconnected, will they be able to continue charging me for a service which does not exist?
Given the current situation, what are my options in preventing this potential reoccurring "robbery"?
