Canon Pixma IP1800

Bures

ULTIMATE Member
I have had this printer sitting in my garage for the past 9 months as a result of upgrading to an "all in one"

Now someone want to puchase it, and it`s in a box with no mains lead.

For the life of me I cannot remember if :-
(a) the 240v mains lead plugs directly into the rear of the printer.
(b) or is their a transformer in the mains lead reducing the voltage from 240 to a lower voltage ?

I have the CD containing the manual but it`s no help

Dont want to risk putting 240v directly into the machine, just incase it goes BANG.
So, is it (a) or (b)

Thanks

Stupid question ... can you tell by having a look at the power socket on the back of the printer ? Often the input e.g. AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz - is displayed above the socket, and also the socket (if it's meant to take direct mains) will probably either be a "figure 8" or "kettle" type lead.

Failing that you could always e-mail or phone Canon ... :hrmph:

Unless its a fake (haven't herd of any fake printers, but its possible) it should have information about the power input as Bobn said.

Just one gripe Bob - they aren't kettle leads. Kettle leads have an extra notch in them as they are rated for heat. You can use kettle leads to power a PC, but not the other way round.

Not such a smart answer:
The socket is not marked with any voltage information
It is not a kettle lead or a figure of eight type socket but two small pins such as you would get on a radio lead - well thats just answered my own question, it must be mains.
Thanks to all:smilet:
