And there was me think that LLU/ADSL2 were a whole lot better that your basic BT IPStream products....

When I saw the news article posted at the end of August

'Be' Removes Broadband ADSL2+ Usage Caps - Poster MarkJ (Thursday, August 30 2007)

I thought "at last a Be option that makes sense". The new Be Value package would be a great, cost-effective upgrade from the the 1 Mbps service I get from my IPStream-based ADSLMax service. (Long phone line, >60dB line loss)

However when I contacted Be to see what speed I might get the strange reply I got was that because I was more that 5.5 km from my local exchange I couldn't recieve a service from Be.

Once again thanks to BT's crappy phone lines I feel like a true....

(It's such a damn shame that there are so many folk like me that just can't get super high-speed broadband thanks to BT)

Long lines cost more to maintain, you are more likely to get a fault and to have to call support. Unfortunately unlike BT, Be don't have to provide a service so they can cherry pick the more profitable customers.

I am in the same boat.. their website also tells me I am too far away to get service - even though I get 2.5mbps adsl max :D

Oh well.. crappy BT.. if only Virgin Media would extend their network 0.5miles to me :)

....If only they had written the cheques to cover the roll out of a fibre network to replace/augment the copper wire one before ADSL got so popular....
