Carrier Aggregation Disabled on new EE '5G Smart SIM'?

Hi Guys,

Having recently signed up the new EE '5G Smart SIM' plan, having come from Vodafone seeking better 5G Coverage and 4G speeds, it now appears that 4G CA is disabled on the 5G deal.

I had initial thought it was an issue with my Mate 20 X, as my girlfriend, who had a imported Redmi Note 7 had CA on her phone, but I didn't - even though I did have it on Vodafone. I then went and bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G and still no CA on EE!

As I spend a good portion of my time in countryside/sticks, and 5G won't be around for a while, I was hoping to be able to use the semi decent 4G+.

Is there anyway to get EE to enable this?

Cheers

Steve

It might be that until EE get to grips with 5G they have disallowed CA, but I can't say I've heard of this occuring.

Did you try your SIM in your girlfriend's Note 7 (I assume she is also on EE but with a 4G only SIM when you say she sees CA?)

It could be that neither the 20X and Note 10 Plus 5G don't have the CA configurations for EE (or even generic UK configurations) defined within them - this is usually something each Provider would work with the manufacturer of the devices to build into the firmware, per device.
