"Cheap" FTTC with no BitTorrent throttling?

I'm on a 8Mbps ADSL package with Virgin but never get anything near this. I've just recently found out that my local exchange has FTTC and now I am keen to change providers for a much faster package.

My prequisites are at least 30GB peak, Unlimited off peak and NO throttling of BitTorrent, at the very least off peak times.
I'm currently looking at ADSL24 or Aquiss, so any anecdotes or warnings for either, or which you would prefer? Any other ISPs that I haven't heard about offer what I want? I've had a decent look, but I can't seem to find anyone good. Any ideas?

Thanks!

No BitTorrent throttle on FTTC.. hmmm.. I'm not sure if your budget will extend that far.

The most affordable FTTC solutions come from BT , Plusnet and TalkTalk , although all have some degree of P2P restriction. I know that Plusnet has some sort of prioritisation add-on that reduces the throttling but you'd need to ask them about that.

Elsewhere IDNet have some reasonable capped allowances and ADSL24 might meet your needs but I'm not sure about their usage policy.

Vispa do limit P2P, but it varies, depending on network demands, not sure if this is true of fibre or just ADSL though.

By throttle, I do not mean strangle, I have seen 600KBps download speeds on uTorrent on a 6Mb connection.

Ah right, thats vispa out the window then, unless the OP asks them about it and on some miracle they are one of the rare ISPs that are clear and open about what and when stuff is or isnt throttled.

ADSL24 is only other one i can think of anywhere near the budget though slightly more than 25 quid a month if they want 10Mb up speeds (rather than 2Mb) and 30gig peak usage. (£28 as good as). Would also need to check with them about throttles etc.

Personally IMO you need to be looking more at £40 a month if you want a decent FTTC service with no throttles, and even then you will still have some type of cap.

Wonder if the OP is in a Virgin area or an area with a more specialist smaller start up fibre and/or wireless company? If they are that may suit them more, though Virgin obviously do throttle its not as severe as some from my understanding.

I'm not in a Virgin cable/fibre area.

Vispa don't look too bad, but I think Plusnet looks quite good. £21.49/month, 120GB peak usage, unlimited off peak, only 2Mbps upload - not brilliant but do-able, and +£5 per month for no throttling. I think I'm going to go with this, and see what the throttling is like and take the addon if it's not good enough.

Thanks for the help!

Beware even with the 5 quid bolt on it looks to me as though stuff CAN STILL get throttled/managed.

http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/traffic_management.shtml

P2P is still managed as is downloads and streaming, by how much or how often is anyones guess.

Looking at...

http://www.plus.net/support/kfis/Plusnet-Pro-KFIs.pdf

It appears P2P etc is still managed during peak times. Which makes you wonder what the extra 5 quid actually does apart from prioritise basic web browsing, voip and ftp a tad more.

I have also heard of complaints about throttling of P2P on Plusnets service from people who paid the £5. PlusNet are BTs "cheap" option, and you get what you pay for; much lower speeds than other people on the same exchange, and lame excuses when you call them about it.
