You don't give much information, such as the model of router?

I assume from your post that the issue is you cannot connect to Sky via a Cisco router, but you can with a cheap D-Link? Or have I got that wrong.

I'm absolutely no Cisco expert or even newbie.. but in your config I don't see where you are setting the VPI/VCI (0/38) ?
Also is this an ADSL conncetion or an FTTC conection?

As an aside, I've never understood why people want to use Cisco enterprise gear in their homes. It just leads of more complication and is unlikely to be any more reliable than a decent "home / soho" router.

I'd generally avoid enterprise kit for home purposes too, as Tom says they can throw up all sorts of hassle (particularly as some assume a static IP based LAN rather than DHCP).

Hi
Sorry for the late reply, as I forgot to subscribe to my own thread perhaps.

1: Cisco 867 VAE OR Cisco 1841.
The error is on both Cisco routers, even after spoofing the MAC!
PVI VC settings are indeed 0/38 as you described.

The reason I want to use Cisco, is because I am a 3rd year Networking Student, so any experience how big or small is good.

Any one can please share the settings for the Sky router?
Also is the user name MAC@skydsl or MAC@skydsl.com

Thank you

Just @skydsl

Also I think some Sky LLU exchanges or exchange equipment might not support PPP and instead uses Routed Ethernet over ATM with a modified DHCP packet to authenticate (and a different VPI/VCI).
Your question might be best posted on the Sky User forum.
