City Fibre query

I’ve had several updates from CityFibre recentley all saying different things. The latest is:

Thanks for your interest in our brand new, ultrafast broadband, which is now live in your area.

We're currently unable to connect your home to the network. We'll be in touch once we're able to get you connected.

From anyone’s experience, how / when does this get resolved?

Currently paying a premium for my standard broadband so I’m not tied down to a long contract, so would like fibre asap!

Thank you

It gets resolved when the fibre runs into your street rather than just in the area. They will have a build plan which will be agreed with the local council as there may be traffic management issues they have to resolve during the streetworks.

Or if you are unlucky it may not get resolved. Not all properties will be covered by new Altnets. There are reasons many reasons for that. So no way of knowing for sure. Customer Services are useless as they are far detatched from the network build. Best is to watch your telegraph pole (if served via overhead cable) and look for fibre work in your street. And keep trying on the ISP's website.

The main one, as with most thing in our world unfortunately, boils down to money.

At some point it simply is crossing the threshold of too expensive and they simply halt the build at that point. Very frustrating for punters, but put yourself in their position as a business.

At some point its just economically unfeasible unless someone else stumps up for it.

Yeah all the technical problems that a network mnay face can obviously be solved. The problem is that a lot of them are not economically unfeasible.

CF have had a lot of issues recently. For example, they have teminated the contract with the main build partner for my area. As a result, there is no build happening where I am and they were about to get to me.

They may be slow but they may do it.

They’ve been digging in my area for over a year done my street, green cabinets everywhere I even got the email to say “we’re almost done, are you ready for brand new broadband” but come to a complete hault and no clue what’s going on. I’m in a new build and the council are redoing the entire road & grids that comes to my street so not sure if that’s playing a part

@Hazzer I recommend checking: https://bidb.uk and https://labs.thinkbroadband.com/local/broadband-map

That way you can find the postcodes currently being worked, and the area that is already live, might give you some better indication if you haven't checked already that is.
Thanks for the reply, I’m not overly good with the technical side of things but a guy I’ve messaged from another post has helped a lot this morning, seems like everything is done work wise in the area just waiting for the first area to go live. Back to the waiting game. I got the email in august so was hoping it was before Christmas but guessing it’ll be next year. On the second link you sent I can’t see anything with cityfibre being marked? Not sure if it’s because I’m on mobile?

The thinkboradband map lags 2-3 reality. So it will update eventually.
