CityFibre build to orderable timeline

Hi,

CityFibre (via VolkerSmart) are building in my area (West Ipswich), and I've been lettered/leafleted that they'll be passing my house within the next week.

Just curious if anybody has any insight or experience as to the timeline from build, to handover back to CityFibre, to a connection being ISP orderable?

Trying to avoid tying myself into another 12-18 month G.fast contract if I have a realistic prospect of getting FTTP within the next 6 or so months, but not had a lot of luck searching around for indicitive answers.

Many thanks!

Generally they seem to get areas connected up fairly quickly once the build has finished, so if they're coming next week then I should think the prospect of that going live by or during spring 2021 are high.

Hi
It depends if you are at the start of the roll out in your area. From my street being dug up being connect took around 2 months, but my street was one of the last to be installed in my area(Aberdeen). I have the Vodafone gigafast 500mbps package. Since being installed my down and up load speeds are 200-500mbps. That’s the good news. My tv and cctv time-out due to slow connection speed both on cat6 cables, web pages take ages to load. I’ve been on the phone to Vodafone several times changing settings being promised that it would solve my issues but takes 24hrs to work, ie get you off the phone. My BT copper wire broadband performed better which was only 30mbps.
If you look at Vodafone forums most gigafast customers have the same issue.
I wouldn’t go to the bother of having the fibre installed into your house, you probably won’t be any better off and will be paying twice the price.
