Cloudflare DNS blocking Android push notifications

I've been pulling my hair out for the past few days trying to figure out why push notifications were working for some apps, and not others.

If I disabled WiFi, and used mobile data, they came through as expected!

After spending some time rebuilding my mobile I finally came across the solution to change DNS from Cloudfare (1.1.1.1) to Google (8.8.8.8)! DNS is set on my home router so I've added an override for my device in my Asus DHCP manually assigned IP list for now.

Not sure why they are being blocked currently, however hopefully helps others!

I use Cloudflare DoH and haven't noticed anything like that. I do notice that Three sometimes prevent the HTTPS connection at random, but my router caches DNS for 24 hours so tend to not notice that either. Usually only happens for about 10-15 mins at a time before resolving itself.

I wonder how the DNS could be causing this behaviour?

No idea, however it's consistently preventing notifications until I switch to Google DNS.

It also affected a work's Microsoft Authenticator App that couldn't be setup as push notifications were not working. Worked fine when switching DNS.
