Finally moved my B818 into the attic, similar location to the MF286D which I had up there for several months now. The B818 locked onto the same eNB as the MF286D (Three network).
Even after moving the B818 around a bit to find the best SNR (SINR) I could not get anything better than 8dB, but more frequently 3dB. The MF286D shows SNR between 13 and 16dB. Not surprisingly, speed tests on the B818 were around 15 Mb/s download, while the MF286D delivers 40Mb/s on average. Upload speeds are similar for both routers.
I am not particularly impressed with the B818 so far and swapped back to the MF286D pretty much straight away. Perhaps, the B818 works better on a different eNB, but for the moment I will stick to the MF286D.
