Complete newby wanting advice please.

I've checked quite a few hexes on Cellmapper at that postcode and Filey in general. Speeds tend to be in this order. EE Voda 02 3. 3 couldn't get any more than 10mb anyplace on the grid so give them and smarty / iD a miss.

EE is kind of expensive, but I am always recommending Vodafone to people on the forum. It's an ideal in-between - their speeds are generally fast, as long as you've got okay signal the speed should be good, you won't have strange network quirks like on Three and you can get excellent deals through cashback deals. EE are just kind of expensive without room to maneuver.

Hi there, I have a virgin SIM only deal at the moment, could you tell me which provider the use. Just wondering if it's different to Vodafone could I check the signal I get from that as well as Vodafone.
Thanks

I think Virgin Mobile is currently transitioning from EE to Vodafone, so most likely you'd be using Vodafone.

Make sure in the router the APN you use is goto.virginmobile.uk and only IPv4.

Or if the OP just needs a simple WiFi router, I just bought an E5783B-230 which is what Three sell directly as a 'portable WiFi' for about 50-60 quid.

It's a Cat 6 LTE device which supports all the RF bands (SDL) that three use. Get a solid 50-100mbps on the DL and 20-30mps on the UL... but that's just luck of probably few Three users in my neighborhood.

Have had this plugged in and connected to a USB charger for over a year with no issues.

Well.. going to that from the B818 is like going from a Cadillac to a Trabant .. but it's good to have options.

Can you tether to it via ethernet/usb cable?

Sorry I don't know if the two comments from smarty broadband are aimed at me. If they are I have no idea what you mean. Sorry my thickness has no boundaries.

@Maleyale sorry, we went a bit offtopic there, you can ignore us, as you have already bought your router.

Voxi would be a good contender.

£20 for 45gb of data, along with endless data for video services so Netflix, amazon Prime, TV player and my 5, along with endless social media on Facebook twitter WhatsApp etc.

As well as standard unlimited calls, texts and picture messages, plus WiFi calling and 4g Calling included if you wanted to use it in a handset too.

Depends where you'll be streaming your movies from. Tethering is also included for the endless data.

Smarty generally £16pm if you look about for unlimited data.
