Hi.
I've never switched provider before, having been a very long term AOL user, but they decided to up their price by £5 this month so I'd be paying a ridiculous £22 a month for bog standard broadband.
Unfortunately I rent so can't swap the line rental which is currently BT and seeing that pretty much no broadband supplier will provide broadband without also being forced to switch their line rental to I've decided to switch to the bog standard BT Broadband package (less than half the price of my impending AOL bill!)
I'm unsure about the procedure for switching though and would just like to clarify if this is the best way of doing it.
1) Phone AOL and ask for MAC code.
2) Register for BT Broadband online.
3) Phone AOL and terminate my internet from them.
Is this correct? I read that in some cases I don't even need to phone AOL as BT will sort out the MAC code and terminate my contract with them? But I'd rather be on the safe side as I've read some horror stories about not "officially" getting a MAC code yourself.
Thanks.
