Connect b4 2am would be nice

Tried vispa, awful, tried surfanytime, awful, thought i would give u guys a try, wow, if i connect at 128k b4 2am every morning im amazed!!

Good jub i have my trusy n*****m 64k account which connects every single time.

I'm so fed up of the message "phone line is busy" (constantly), the price of isdn is crippling enough without signing up for isps all the time just to have a half decent browsing speed.

Is it worth hanging around to see if this isp improves?

mad2moons (and all)

I connected first time at 10.30pm last night, but we have been busy this week. I will investigate further. We are in the middle of a purge on abusers, and are awaiting an increase in capacity.

Could other readers please advise as to how busy they are finding the service.

I will post more information as soon as possible.

Regards

Well, I've signed up for the 128k service, but I can only connect at 64k. Not had much feedback or help on this forum, one of their staff was responding to my emails but that was Thursday.

I also couldn't connect at all one evening last week (Thursday I think) but haven't even tried this weekend as I'm using my good'ole AOL connection at 57k.

I think I'm going to have to ask for my money back :-(

Mad2moons

I have just logged on at 12.50 at 128k first time (about 9 minutes after you). I have logged on several times today without any problems.

Gez

Although I try and keep an eye on the forums, it is not a substitute for contacting us directly. I have just switched off the support line (at 12.50 am, Monday morning) and have had one support call all weekend, from a lady who had forgotten her password. Normally, if the lines are very busy, we receive a few calls.

Would any Quik users reading this message please email me direct at dm@quikinternet.co.uk to let me know their experience of busy signals this weekend (good or bad) so that I can investigate.

Thanks

I have just logged on two machines first time. We currently have about 50 modems sitting idle. I think that there must be some other problem. Are you getting a busy signal. Or is it a router not connecting.

When do you normally try and connect. I will try and keep an eye on the forum to watch for notices of busy signals, so that I can monitor real-time when you are having trouble.

David, I appreciate what you say, but support at 50p a minute would soon results in one phone call being worth the monthly charge. That's why I most people prefer to use the forums and email.

David,

Whilst I'm glad for your support and time to answer back, it can't be a problem my end becuase when I cannot get onto quik because it permanently states that the line is busy, I try connecting to my n*****m account and connects 1st time everytime.

Ok, here are just a couple of the times i tried connecting tonight:

6.25 - 6.45

7.02 - 7.14

8.05 - 8.27

8.30 - 8.44

gave up writing them down but was trying all night, even at this time I can't get on

Hi all,

I'd just like to say I joined quik on the 128k 24/7 package last week and I'm very happy with it at the moment.

I've only had to redial once or twice and I find my pings for gaming on most decent servers are 70 - 100. Maybe not fantastic but they play without lag, that's on 64k.

I've tried several isp's and at the moment I'll stick with quik.

I suppose it all depends on where you live in the uk and how your call is routed. I'm in Glasgow and tried a glasgow based isp but it was terrible, luck of the draw I suppose.

Long may it continue.

ok, I give up now!!

I've been sent a bill so will pay this £17.50 for probably about 6 hours of connection time! I wish to cancel my account so how do i go about it??

PS. One day I'll find a 128k service that works :)

Gez/Mad2Moons/Vawn/Moonraker

I have just connected first time. Could Vawn and Moonraker please advise on latest connection attempts. I see somebody else is getting on ok.

Could Mad2Moons call me at the office tomorrow as the other night at 2.am I logged on and we loads of spare ports.

Re cancelling account, you can email info@quikinternet.co.uk,or call our office on 01270 212199. If you have only used 6 hours we will either not charge, or if the charge has gone through we will refund.

Gez, apologies for misleading re support costs. We have a premium rate number, but have not implemented it yet. The number stated on the web site is local rate or long distance depending on where you are. So no 50p a minute charge. We may implement next year, but we are delaying as long as possible.

Officially support is not open at 2.00 am, and I won't be on that late tonight, but if someone sends me their telephone number (by PM) and I am on, and they say that they can be called, I will call and try and help.

Regards

Ok as you requested David my input on this subject (althaugh i think you ment somebody else not me as i havent posted in this thread yet haha) but here goes.

morning 5am till 7am no Problems
7am till 4pm some Problems

late morning early afternoon is worse for me i have to redial for approx 15 mins and then when i get on i cant use 128k only 64k (not a problem for me i dont mind the wait).

Evening 4pm till 6pm some problems
6pm till 10pm no problems

Early evening is kind of patchy, sometimes i can get on 1st time, other times its dificult, making me redial for 5-10mins for a 64k then another 5-15mins for the other 64k making 128k (aggain a little anoying at times but not a big problem).

Every other times are ok appart from the odd times when i try at 10pm till 5am when i cant conect for somtimes 10 mins( this i dont understand as there should be less users), but if i imediatly disconnect then reconect then i get on straight way (strange but very rare).

Conclusion : Buisiness times seem to be worse for me but 15 mins of waiting and im on 64k and at them times thats all i need or want as i use 128k for night time, 128k is verry hard for me to get at these times.

David has allways sorted problems that anyone has had so pls bear with him and he will find and fix it ,allthaugh like i say its not a problem for me just a little anoying at times :) .

BTW Ping times and Tracrt are Verry good.

Well I'm sorry to persist on this matter as I'm cancelling my account. But Vawn, you don't find having to wait 10-15 mins a problem??

When I want to upload a website I'm testing, I want my connection as soon as I click on connect!! How can 10-15mins wait be called a service??

like i say m8 , its not a problem 2 me .. im not is that much of a rush, gives me time to make a cup of tea haha :) .

Good evening

Vawn. thanks for the feedback. I am at a loss as to why some people are having very bad busy signals and others are not. 90% of customers are dialling the same 1691 0845 number and so geography should not make a difference. But we have had problems with BT routing before.

Anyway, we have recently communicated with our abusers, in an effort to reduce busy signals.

We will also hope to have ports in place in January from two other telcos and it if a customer experiences an ongoing technical fault with one telco, we can use one of the others.

We can't do this sooner as the telcos are not ready.

On the subject of not being able to bundle 2 lines, we are working on this.

Well, I've got to say a big thank you to David for a fast response to my email and him phoning up! I had a bit of a shock at first, but its nice to see that some ISP people do care for the customers.

It's just a shame that I couldn't use the 128k service.

Thank you again David.
