Connecting to EE 5G SA Mast

What plan are you on?

Btw lol at SA, it's not a bad ping but hardly great either, originally 5G (nsa) was touted as having sub 10ms pings, then they mugged that off and said SA would be the saviour. Well it turns out it's all bollocks I guess
I’ve had better ping on NSA! 😂

I'm not aware of being on a trial. Today I upgraded my plan.
Good to see you here ☺️

You’d know if you were on the trial, you have to sign up to it, Centrecode would be periodically bothering you for feedback but EE would covering your line rental.

You’re the first person we’ve seen with SA since the plans launched in the wild. How long before
You changed your tariff before you started to pick it up?

It was minutes. Did a speedtest after getting off the phone and saw it said SA, which surprised me!

Hopefully I'm not revealing anything I shouldn't be!

At a guess, on my side I see Capabilities NSA+SA, and while the 5G indicator is showing either:
- No 5G section in FTM
- A 5G section without Band, Bandwidth and Cell Id showing

At a guess this means the 5G indicator on my phone is fake?

Yes - in my area it's the same, EE have no 5G at all just very fast 4G. Indicator reads as 5G but it's 4G only.

Still not really sure what anyone needs a low ping for on a phone, gaming is a very, very niche use case.

Talking of phone calls - does it drop back to 4G or NSA in FTM when you make a call? If not then VoNR is probably live too
Do we have VoNR in the UK yet?

I'll need to pop down to the Shuttle Bus depot sometime and see what happens with O2's SA. ☺️
Just tried it outside there as the SA signal wasn't reaching inside which was unusual, just switches to 4G, but I forgot to switch VoLTE off, it's off now so will try it again when I manage to get SA again, without walking to the other end of the town. :giggle:
Sorry I know this is in the wrong thread.:cautious:

you'll need it on, so that it is registered with the IMS - used for VoNR too - and doesn't try fall back to 3G/2G

Ah that's true Gavin, I forgot about the 2G/3G malarkey, well it's just 4G.:(
