Connecting to EE 5G SA Mast

Think I’m gonna throw in the towel and cancel the upgrade. I don’t see the point of being locked into another 24 month contract for something with no tangible benefit.

Even 3 made huge improvements with their coverage using band 28 LTE.
I don't blame you JimmyBand28, I certainly wouldn't pay extra for SA knowing it's nothing fantastic, and as you say, a 2 years expensive contract too, yikes!:(

I wonder if any EE customers who now have SA actually think it's any better than NSA and worth the extra money?

Without VoNR I just don’t see the point. Call setup times were around 5 seconds when I tested the other day. It’s just badly setup as it is right now and if anything, it made things worse.

You get it on an android instead.
I came back from iPhone after 6 or 7 months. Didn't like how restricted it was (felt like being in a cage)

The guy sitting behind me on the bus reading my phone said 'That's where you should be', how rude, I gave him a slap.Tut!

I can't tell if you've made that up or if that actually happened.

My inner bradfordian is showing.

No it's absolutely true, I'm on the Glasgow bus heading for Edinburgh.(Again)
Not sure there's anyone behind me though.;)

My phone was trying (unsuccessfully) to connect to N28 inside the st james centre in Edinburgh yesterday on EE. Showed up in the field test.

My all rounder plan states: With EE, you’re on the UK’s best network. You’ll get our fastest uncapped 5G speeds as standard, so you can download files and stream content fast.

Isn't that a breach of contract from EE's side, since in some places indoors I am being prevented from accessing the publicly available 5g network?

I'm really hoping EE get another 5mhz of 800 if the merger goes through. It'll transform their network and I have every faith they'll widen it as quickly as they possibly can.
I'm sure I've seen somewhere in the past, exactly this mooted as a means to even-up the spectrum. EE & 3UK's B20-holdings are adjacent so 10/10/10 nicely done.

Will the 700MHz rollout be more wide-ranging than 800MHz do we think? I never really experienced the "game changer" indoor coverage that was promised when EE rolled it out originally. Looking at Cellmapper, it's not on many sites I am near.
B20 is a noticeable coverage improvement where available. In urban areas it's used more strategically, so selected sites have it, to provide a "thin" layer without necessarily being contiguous. If your nearest B20 server is close enough (or co-located) with the B3 anchor, then it noticeably adds coverage. If it's further away, then it'll likely drop-off just as much as B3 does.

In most of the Highlands & Islands, B3/B20 is pretty standard site design and it's noticeable.

In rural Hampshire where I'm from, EE never bothered to add band 20 to most of the sites. The result is either band 3 that disappears or unusable band 20 from some distant mast.

I wonder why EE decided Scotland deserves band 20 but not Hampshire?

Any new EE SA results in anywhere?
I was expecting to see quite a lot by now, but it's been very quiet. :)

I'll have some later tonight if I get chance to post them. Was planning to get more as week goes by and upload them in bulk, but will probably spread them out through week instead 😂.

Absolute joke in Victoria.

Stuck on n28 that doesn’t work, less than 1Mb per second. If this is how it’s going to work then EE will remain the worst network indoors.

So my early verdict is positive. Speeds all over 500mbps nothing lower so far in Northern half of Sheffield.

It was consistent in that it never dropped back to NSA until I got home (stuck directly between two mast so it doesn't know which to use, but both SA enabled ). Remained on n78 mostly, dropping to n7 as distance from masts increased. Speedtests will be in EE Speed test thread shortly although only managed four .

I've just upgraded my EE sim plan to Full Works which includes SA. If anyone could give me a brief education, I'm happy to provide data for where I am (Glasgow).

If you're on Android Breamish, install Netmonster or Cellmapper, they should indicate if you are connected to SA. :)
