I'm going back to VM, so I reconnected my coaxial cables to the splitter outside, and compression crimped the ends. Testing with a multimeter, I saw continuity on the cable. So I removed the cable from the splitter, and no more continuity. Reconnected, continuity.
Then I tested the actual VM drop cable, the bit that comes from the VM cabinet to my house, BEFORE the splitter, and sure enough that has continuity as well. I'm no expert, but i'm pretty sure that's not right. I used to be a VM customer but I cut it off; does anyone know if they do something at the VM cabinet end that would cause their drop cable to have continuity? As in a multimeter beeps if you hold it against the metal casing of the connect and the copper centre connector.
Or have I got a damaged drop cable ?
