Contract renewal time... Options?

So I'll have been with Three 5G home broadband for 2 years as of the 19th Jan, and I'm very happy with the service, I'm not looking to change, as there's still no FTTP or Virgin to my house, FTTC is a paltry 30-50mbps.

Which, frankly can't compare. 😁 And this is at 5pm on a weekday.

I currently have the H112-370 Huawei CPE Pro 5G router, alongside a TP Link Deco mesh, and the only thing I'd want improving is the option of an AP/Bridge mode on the router so I can run the mesh in router mode rather than access point mode.

Does the new Zytel router Three are currently providing have AP/Bridge mode (that works)? If so, I'll cancel the current contract (£28 a month) and sign up again at the £20pm/£10 for 6 months deal.

If not, I may take the chance that if I cancel they don't ask for the router back, and then get a cheaper unlimited data sim.

If they do, I can always just sign up again as there's not many unlimited data only sims under £20 that I can see.

Hope you can keep the router.
You could then just get this:

You'd think not, wouldn't you...

That business SIM, I'm guessing you'd confirm that you're a sole trader?

Only issue is if they do ask for the router back a month or 2 later, I'm then tied into a 24m contract with no router, so would need to buy a new one at £300+. It does work out at £22.50 over 24 months though, so still less than I'm paying now.

I can get a smarty 1 month contract for £17 a month including the 10% off my current £8 a month plan (group plans) and then if Three do ask for the router back I can go with a new contract with them.

You can get them on CeX for cheaper.

I am in a similar position, in that they never asked for their original CPE Pro router back when I changed to monthly rolling contract and they sent me the ZTE model.

Currently I am using a Scan EE card in the ZTE and the Three sim in the CPE, and paying Three £24 a month.

If I knew they wouldn't ask for one or both of the routers back I would swap the Three to Scan's £12 a month Three unlimited deal.

As someone said in another post if Three offer the £3 unlimited in their year end I will get those, cancel the other, and see what happens.

Does anyone have any experience with them asking for their kit back? I see a lot of ex Three routers on Cex and Ebay, so it does make you wonder if they even bother.
