anyone got a rough idea ??

im confused, do i need to order through bt.com to get the line enabled
or is that all done through aol, or whoever ?

NO Broadband
Due to removal of the home highway BT will charge you for this service and this will show on your BT phone bill, the best way to get sa price on this is to call BT on 150. The prices for the service itself depend upon who you go with so that is a varying cost. If you need any more inforamtion please let me know and i will do my best to help.

Hello

The costs for an ISDN to ADSL conversion are £50.
BT chrage this to you and it appears on your next blue BT bill after the date the conversion takes place.
If the conversion fails you will not be charged anything, this also covers the period upto 28 days after the ADSL is installed so even if you have problems with the ADSL the ISDN can be reinstated without charge.

After that its simply the ADSL subscription and setup costs (if any) due to the ISP. For example at NDO you have a choce of paying £65 setup then £19.99 a month; or paying £24.99 a month and no setup fee. But every ISP prices differently.

Most ISPs are able to arrange for the ISDN conversion to ADSL and the ADSL installation to happen at the same time, if you ordered online with us we will automatically find the next available engineer slot for your exchange and book the visit in for you. If you go via BT for the conversion you can do this, however you have to wait 7 days after the conversion takes place before the ADLS can be installed; if you go via an ISP it all happens together.

Best wishes
Doug

If you sign up with any of the BT broadband packages then BT will actually waive the £50 removal fee but they will lock you into a 12 month contract (which isn't unusual with a major ISP).

This works out about a £4/month saving over the first years costs compared to other ISP's. Not sure if any other ISP's offer this.

It worth taking this into account when working out your costs. I know I did and BT came out as being the cheapest option for the first year. I will probably be leaving BT when my contracts up but not because of service only monthly cost which even after their reductions is still a little on the high side.
