Could this be owned by Virgin

Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place to post. This website had came up during a google search in the past.

There is a flat top rectangular cabinet that sits in our hedges within our gardens boundary and not out on the pavement itself.

It's been hidden in our hedges all the years we lived here. I did try to identify it online (ispreview) in the past to see if it could be remove completely as its rusting away at the back, plus looking to create driveway, but nothing really looked the exact same but did look closer to NTL/virgin pictures on this webiste..

I even asked an OpenReach engineer who was working across the road if he be able to I.D. it. He said been doing the job 40 years and he wasn't sure want it was (no markings or Royal stamps), he said could be electricity for street lights or cable from Virgin.

Well anyway, today I noticed our hedges had been cut away to gain access to it and could see whoever it was had left it unlocked and had not closed the door completely over.

So I looked inside (pictures attached hopefully) and it has a WISI Amplifier and judging by the pictures they have put nice new white coaxial cable in.

Would anyone in here know if this is likely to be owned by Virgin? Cant think of who else it could be.

cheers

Pretty sure that's Virgin Media.

thanks for confirming that guys.

Up until yesterday I was thinking more toward it being electricity box for the street lights as Virgin Media had dug up all all around the area installing cabling about 2 year ago, but in hindsight that will have been Fibre broadband.

I'll go check with Virgin media thanks again.

My guess is that it could be a communal TV aerial system - in the 70s a lot of housing estates were built with a communal aerial which was then distributed by coax to each house - and they often came with a covenant banning TV aerials on your house. I used to live on an estate where the communal aerial had been provided by Redifusion (I think), although by the time I moved there it had fallen into disrepair, and every house had its own aerial (despite the covenant).
