CPE Pro 2 WIFI Naming issue

I seem to be unable to combine my 2.5ghx and 5,6ghz names on my Huawei router. I change the name to the same and it says that both networks cannot have the same name. I'm sure it works okay on other routers? Can anyone help?
Thanks

Not sure if this is just a Huawei 'feature' but all my previous Huawei routers were the same, as an OCD sufferer this made me very uneasy indeedy.

As you say, the CPE Pro 2 is no different, mine is banished to the cupboard and my SSID's are now OCD friendly thanks to the soap dispensers.:giggle:

Hope someone can help you out with a way to get round this though.🤞

I just gave up and named them 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz. 🤬 (Was not happy)

Thanks, it is quite frustrating. I'm sure on my previous Huawei CPE pro 2 it wasn't a problem, just checked a box saying give the 2 networks the same name!

Yes I found it very frustrating too sja0001. :(

On Huawei CPE's it normally works something like this, leave the 2 Named Access Points the same, ie, differently, or name them differently if they are the same, then also under WiFi Settings should be Setting, something like, 5Ghz Preferred, tick this Option to On then Reboot.

On Start Up, the WiFi Access Name should now be one, normally what ever the 2.4Gz Name was or what ever you have set it to, so you will now have to connect all your previous 5Ghz Access Devices to the New Combined Name and Passwords, unless changed All the previous 2.4Ghz Devices should be able to Log On as previous.

Personally I always split my 2.4 and 5Ghz Bands with different Names, that way it gives me better control of my connected Devices and allows me to share and prioritise my bigger 5GHz Bandwidth and Speed.

On some of my previous routers I found that a lot of the 2.4GHz devices refused to connect on a combined SSID, that was annoying too, that was a while ago though, I think things are a bit more reliable these days.

Eufy vacuum cleaner won't connect to a SSID that is both 2.4 and 5ghz. I always split mine for the reasons outlined above.
