CPE Pro H112-372 to CPE PRO 2 Worth the upgrade.?? Advice welcome

Ok so after a fair few years using 4G for our main home broadband we got 5G over 6 months ago now..

Speeds have been picking up and up over the past few months, at first I needed the Router high in the bedroom window to get decent speeds, I moved it to the loft which helped, but was an issue with reboots etc.

Anyway over the last couple of months the speeds have picked up and I have moved it back to just sitting on a shelf in the bedroom..

To improve Wifi coverage around the house I have a Honor 3Wifi 6+ Router downstairs in bridge mode, this provides decent wifi to the downstairs and Media steaming to the main TV

Saw CEX have a few CPE PRO 2s now on Three for just over £200, just wondering if there would be any benefit to upgrading from the 372 to the Pro 2.

Speedtesting at 450 down 100 up stable (Get over 600 when pulling large files down from news servers)! Uploads have recently doubled form around 60 to over 100

I could probably get more out of it by having it back high up in the window, but happy wife Happy life and all that..

Anyone gone from the 370 or 372 to the CPE PRO 2. Was it worthwhile.

I've had both versions over the years Stageshoot, and to be honest, they are much alike, for me the CPE Pro 2 did pull in a slightly stronger signal, but nothing major.

The Pro 2 also does not have external antenna sockets if you ever feel the need to tinker with that idea.

Using an external antenna actually made things worse for me.

I only bought the CPE Pro 2 because I'm an idiot who can't resist the latest toys.

I would agree with JitteryPinger and just don't try and fix what isn't broken, you have a great speed there and doubt anything would change much.

Save your pennies for your delightful next leccy bill.😊

Cheers I was just wondering if the Wifi 6+ in the CP PRO 2 compared to Wifi 5 in the 372 might improve the in house linking, but as its working think all the advice of leave it alone is right on..

Thanks

Well to be honest Stageshoot, I have had about 6 Huawei routers over the years and have found the WiFi to be not the strongest around on all the Huawei's.

Even the CPE Pro 2's WiFi 6 isn't much stronger in the garden, a little bit maybe, but nothing fantastic, might improve strength indoors a little but for me nothing major.

Not making any comments about your fishy Octopus.:sneaky:

As you may be able to see, my 5G light is still broken.🤬

That's his special reflective corner, no where else in the entire house is better than the special corner. (Not even directly on the windowsill)☺️

They really are taking some time getting 5G to you..

Three are playing some silly games with coverage, we keep going in and out of coverage according to the 3 map which changes every week!!. Not an issue as each time we go out of coverage speeds seem to get better. But they seem to peppering the area with 5G Poles, Just want the big tower at Tibshelf Services on the M1 to be upgraded as thats best LOS service for us

Well they did start my 3 pole of Wonder last August, then just done a runner never to be seen since.

When I say started, the ground mount and a cabinet were delivered, then the weather turned it all into a muck hole, that's when they scarpered.

Hopefully one day soon they'll return, beginning to wonder now though.😢

The only thing I have noticed between the pro (1) and pro 2 is my pro 1 doesnt have bridge mode (unless its locked down by my old providers firmware)

Likely locked down firmware.
Yeah must be Lucian, my CPE Pro bought from Amazon had bridge mode, although it wasn't something I ever used, but it was indeedy there.

Probably worded it wrong when I said Bridge Mode, its actually Link+ I am using to share Network details between the 2 routers.

Although saying that mine does have Bridge Mode as well

That link+ is not so important. Just change the ssid and password to match your existing WiFi network and you're done.
