Hi, I haven't registered but will, when I get the time, call me sunny for now.
OK this is convoluted but bear with me. I am currently on Orange anytime dial-up, they notified me that they are changing to broadband and will automatically change me unless i tell them no. I checked their prices and told them no. I had received a letter at the same time as Orange's from my telephone line provider TalkTalk offering me a better price. However upon looking into it and putting in my postcode to check the site told me I was not in a broadband area and so the service they would provide would be even dearer than Orange's. This puzzled me as i used to have broadband with Bt who I left for 2 reasons, my budget had been cut somewhat and their customer service was abominable and ended up costing me money and lost data. Hence the switch of phone line provider to talktalk. I have been researching dial-up ISPs with reasonable costs for unmetered dial-up AND good or at least reasonable customer service - and not directly linked to BT with whom I will be unlikely to ever return in this lifetime . The fast4net seems to have poor reviews and so I looked at Zaggle but from reading the chat here via the link in the forum thread I am now even more confused. I need to switch before the 22nd Nov - yes I know that's cutting it close. So please help! Can any of you recomend Zaggle or should I keep looking? Is there someone you would recommend? It needs to be unmetered and dial-up not broadband at least for the time being and with few complaints - for their sake as well as mine they don't want me phoning up to complain in the middle of one of my PMS irritability & low tolerance attacks! Yeah the nickname is a bit ironic at that time but I'm sweet really - honest!

From sunny:

Thanks, but their website lonks them to BT and I checked the reviews, for every happy customer there are a lot more unhappy. So thanks but I'm still looking.

There is a very good chance that Zaggle is the same as Fast4, certainly there customer service number is the same.

Some dialup providers require you to have a Bt landline, so check if you are with some other.

Drat! I thought I'd finally found one I would be happy using. Sorry the BT affiliation is non negotiable. Zaggle say that my TalkTalk account is not an issue as my actual line is BT's. I guess I am in for another day of searching the net then, thanks for all the help so far. I realise everything will eventually be broadband, but why, in general, must ISPs abandon dial-up so fast before everyone is able to take up broadband - greed I guess.

:0) True. So no-one here has a dial-up ISP that they are happy with, that is not Fast4, or Zaggle? My Orange Anytime account ends today ...

Hi there, excuse me while I shift around in my strait jacket, ah that's better. Yes I am now officially loopy, I have spent yet another day trying to get a new isp and none of them want my money. Why? Has everyone's server gone kaput or something? I tried my bank and they said no problem with my card they just hadn't received anything from the site and suggested their server was down, the website(s) said my card was not accepted, grr arrgh! Madasafish don't want me Waitrose don't want me, was gonna try cymru1 but couldn't find any reviews on it.

Thanks Mark.J I will now try Clara.net. To see if I get out of the strait jacket watch this space :0/

Er, Mark, do you have a link to clara.net anytime dial-up service, as I can only find a business site with that name, that does not list UK as one of the countries on their list...
