Dial-up looking for Broadband

A silv.surfer rookie looking for Broadband, Anytime calls this is important as I Help my local Community with Utilities and Council problems as they mostly have Moliles - NOT a wireless router because I am Ground Floor in Block of 4 storey Flats and I learnt from your Forum that I would get interference from Electricals around me - also the flats are built with concrete bricks with 2 metal bars going ground to roof - like a cage - and my phone line goes up a central vent to the top together with TV ariel lines and all Supplies etc - so wireless is out - that is what O2 offer

All the Big Boys seem to have such appalling Support and Foreign Help so I was looking at AAISP or XILO that I found on your Forum - They may be small but in this case small seems beautiful

I would appreciate any help to find the right one - I would be a very light user probably about 1.5 to 2Gb a month

Thanks silv.surfer

Firstly the "wireless" aspect is usually not how the service itself is delivered, that's just a home networking feature on your router to save using cables for connecting to your PC or other local computers and can be turned off if not required.

As a "broadband first timer" I'd suggest you pick an ISP package that offers a pre-configured (included) router as this will be a lot easier for you to setup (they are pretty much plug and play). The ISP's you list certainly have a good reputation, although I'd also suggest you check out Zen Internet and IDNet too. Assuming you're covered by them then BE Broadband is a good bet on the value front too.

It's worth putting your phone number through our coverage checker first, just to see what kind of services are available in your area and to get an idea of estimated speeds.

Hi Silv.Surfer,

You may be interested in our ADSL Max 2Gb package, which looks sufficient for your needs. This costs £14.59 per month (Inc. VAT), this will increase on 4th Jan to reflect the VAT increase. We can also send you out a pre-configured router. There will be a charge for the router, but we will configure it for you free of charge :)

If you need any more information take a look at our website, the direct link to our residential packages is http://www.vispa.net/home-broadband.php, or send a quick email to sales@vispa.net.

Or, if you prefer the old fashioned means of telephone, then give us a buzz on 0844 979 8888, where we will be happy to help and answer any queries you have.

Hope you find what your looking for :)

Hello

As you've already mentioned us within your post, I would just like to add that we are happy to configure the router free of charge for you, so that you can just plug-n-play once you receive it.

Do let us know if we can help further and best wishes for a lovely Christmas and New Year.

Matt

silv.surfer - regulars will be well aware of this, but as a self-confessed broadband rookie you may not be, so, just in case Matt's post left you scratching your head because of him saying "As you've already mentioned us within your post"...

He's right! XILO, who you mentioned = UNO - same company under different names.
