Did this cabinet placement really deserve a complaint?

Of all the placements people could complain about, putting a small box on the public pavement like this doesn't seem even remotely worthy of a moan. But that's just my opinion:

“We are extremely upset that it has ruined the look of our house and our beautiful street in Larkhall.”

The location in question - https://www.google.com/maps/@51.3964258,-2.3454056,3a,75y,344.69h,77t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1s1H16YG3m9HTSp-MJqq7-qQ!2e0!6shttps://streetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com/v1/thumbnail?cb_client=maps_sv.tactile&w=900&h=600&pitch=12.99914839238835&panoid=1H16YG3m9HTSp-MJqq7-qQ&yaw=344.68757455223897!7i16384!8i8192?coh=205410&entry=ttu

So he's completely rattled by a small grey box but doesn't feel that the various green Openreach cabinets, the Co-op, the Burger Bar, the Cantonese takeaway, the Indian takeaway, various bus stops and other distractions spoil the street? They're all fine and complement the street but a small grey box "ruins it"!?!? Really!! 😂

I guarantee if that grey cabinet was 5 metres to the right, and not in front of his house, he wouldn't care.

least obtrusive cabinet i've seen. some people just like a good whinge.
remove it, let them have no broadband at all, bet they wouldn't enjoy that. tired of NIMBYs.

Definitely seen worse things. To be honest the most recent one nearby here (I know it was VM as it had the logo around the cabinet) seems like it was less thought out than this one, but at the end of the day nimby's are going to do what they do best (moan and complain about better services becoming available for more)

Certain that if that one had been placed not directly there he wouldn't have an issue with it.

He really said they could've just put the box in his back garden 🙄🙄

You can't make this stuff up. Some people just want to create issues over any little thing.

I would actually query if VM specifically opted for a grey box in this location which with a bit of weather will mellow to more closely match the wall, compared to a more usual green box.

I get that it doesn't add much to the street scene, but it's about as good as you're going to get other than taking a picture of the wall and applying a wrap to the cabinet with VM permission to assist it blend in with the background.

Ultra NIMBY in Bath ....not surprised one bit :ROFLMAO:

Nimby: Hi neighbour, do you happen to work for Bath Council dealing with telecoms related planning applications?

Me: Yes, how could you tell?

Honestly something is wrong with society, people have had it too good for too long. We've become so numb and bored, things like this offend us.

We, some more than others, need to get a fsckin grip. Infrastructure can't exist in thin air, needs physical stuff.

old people like to moan about stuff :ROFLMAO: but seriously they do. they're the same people who think that you shouldn't have X and Y yet they did when they were younger. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this guy moved there from london after making his millions (by selling up) and then complained about people moving to "his" town.

Honestly tired of the curtain twitcher types that want to dictate to society how things should be, after they've had their fun. The same as the XR types that drive diesel mercedes but then stand on top of tube trains because you shouldn't fly to spain for a week etc.

I'm not sure wether to laugh or cry. I appreciate nice surroundings. Really. But I don't complain when someone puts up a 5G mast, or a little grey cabinet. Heck if openreach asked me if they could put a box outside my house I coudn't care less. It doesn't bother me in any way and will only benefit me.

Compo face. For the news. Ranting a bit now, but it always raises the blood pressure when these people start moaning about progress. I'm sure they'd also be the first to moan that their mobile has bad signal in middle of nowhere land.

Exactly.. progress is the word. These cabinets and masts are the new telegraf poles, the new street lights, the new phone boxes and so on. Wonder how all of these were received back in their first days.

those damn kids and their fancy automatised horse carriages. they're trouble i tell ya. get off my land i bought in 2022.

Just to put a different point of view out there, because this place is full of people who appreciate telecoms...

There will be members of the public that has no real appreciation for how telecoms works, has never stopped to ponder why there are street cabinets, and just expects stuff to work.

He has bought a nice suburban house with a historic wall outside, that is no doubt protected / listed / conservation area and as the current resident they would get into a bunch of trouble of they did anything to impact the appearance of the wall.

Is it reasonable he has raised a query whether the street cabinet that has popped up should be positioned in front of the historic wall? You could even say he's been more reasonable offering space to host the cabinet elsewhere on his land. Whether it was sensible to get the local rag involved and do a Mr Angry about a street cabinet article could be debated, but charitably you could acknowledge that he's trying to look after the local area and query the placement of street furniture.

Provided that he doesn't hold some long term vendetta against the cabinet now that he's been told it's all legit and.its not moving, should we support members of the public who sensibly query stuff like this?

Very sensible.

PS: chuckled a bit seeing that fence referred to as a "historic wall".
Too bad guy's name is not Adrian.
