Do BT routinely mischarge the final bill in their favour?

I was very happy to finally be leaving BT who I have previously thought were quite dishonest (putting prices up in the middle of a 12 month fixed deal).

So my final day was the 23rd, and that is the day the phone went dead.

I then get my final bill with a credit dated from the 26th. So although the difference is only £3 in their favour, I do have to wonder how does a big company with automated systems get dates that do not match? This has to be on purpose, right?

Obvious first question, have you ask them the reason yet? I wonder if it's to do with the difference between service delivery and the minimum notification period (usually 30 days).

Mark has forgotten, a few years back BT got caught billing the old ISP for the full switchover day AND the new ISP for the same.
Not much each, but adds up nicely over an entire country and an entire year.
My memory is scrambled, so I cannot remember exactly how long ago, who figured it out, or how it was dealt with.
