I have Virgin media fiber, so this must mean that fiber runs to my local cabinet? If this is true why can I not get fiber from company's such as BT and Sky?
Thank You!
Thank You!
not to mention, l doubt BT will ever stump up the costs for fibre to the home for anything other than newer builds..
Virgin and BT are two different networks. they only share networks on business or main trunk routes. BT are building fibre nodes to boost there below average speeds (very slowly and behind schedule). Virgin can carry faster speeds due to the fibre translating to RF at a closer proximity than BT. Sky and talk talk just piggybank the BT network.
Sadly VM tend to be as bad as BT when it comes to speed many friends still on VM tend to drop from 200 down to less than 20 with latency jumping very high.
As always any broadband in the UK is contended and the more customers either company connects will have an affect oin those already using it VM have a bad record for updating with dates for upgrades changing monthly. I actually left VM after waiting for upgrades to increase my slow speed in peak times after thired change in date I paid to go back to BT. Found my speeds to be more stable at peak times and any slowing down was never as much as VM with upgrades in weeks instead of months.
