After this was raised we have looked into this (hence the delay in replying) and we are currently completing a process of upgrading all our dial equipment to support ISDN compression at both 64k and 128k.
This testing should conclude today and as a result we will support compression on both our 0845 and our 0808 services.
STAC has now been fully enabled on all our 0845 and 0808 dial equipment and is working without any problems.
The Username/password authentication should only take a few seconds. If you continue to experience slow authentication can you please drop us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your Username so we can investigate this for you.
The 6474 number is the right one; although we do have a few alternative numbers that route through different network links and untimately to different dial equipment.
