Don't let Fast4 catch you out with T&C's

hmmm...
Looks like what actually was said is beyond the grasp of 'remzone'

Yeah you get it now and then...someone wanders in, sees us talking/debating the issue and reads something that is totally not there... NO ONE IS COMPLAINING Remzone we are discussing the likely outcome of FAST4's unlimited packages on connectivity in the long term....Some of us are old enough to have seen it all before...:)

..... As the 'Fast4 Support' pointed out, they don't make any money from it. It is passed on to the wholesaler. ...............

I seem to remember that old chestnut surfacing as the excuse when V21 levied a £30 charge for a MAC code...The real reason was to reduce churn rates to enable affiliates to keep on earning from their labours:nod:

Yes, your right I just wandered in and I don't go with the flow. I have my own opinions and if I want to post them I will. Like you said, it's a debate.

I can well understand that on a contension ratio you don't want to be saddled with a bunch of downloading freaks using all the bandwidth while you surf around on a zimmer frame. Thing is, isn't that where your experience guides you away and to another isp? Steve Kaye from Fast4 has stated that due to demand on different forums (not just this one) he has removed the download limit. So I guess not all forums are forming the same opinion as you guys.

Personally a 500 gig limit is insane usage and the limit should have stayed but like I say, they are responding to demand and if I aint happy about it I know what to do. My bandwidth usage is around 60gig a month so I aint an insane user but I class myself as a heavy user and do most my downloading and uploading offpeak. Like Kath said having peak limits is a good idea, I believe Nildram do a 50 gig peak and unlimited off peak? I think thats the route most isps should be following.

But hey, I'm just wandering through

Hey Remzone...no probs whatsoever at you posting your own opinion...but lets make it an opinion and not a snide dig at us because you THOUGHT we were saying something that we wasn't ..."lol I can't beleive your complaining that Fast4 is offering too much hahaha"

Usually it leads to another ISP who advertises UNLIMITED packages...but then if anyone signed up with FAST4 and got the 'zimmer frame' connection...merely leaving would cost you at least £20 for something that was no fault of your own....

Perhaps other forums are merely focal points for customers to curry favour with the ISP....here we tend to tell it as it is...warts and all:nod:
Removing the download limit is like saying "Come to Fast4...download to your hearts content and bvgger the light user's connections"...a really good way to 'p' off your light user customer base and no doubt will soon eat into profit margins and attract 'burst bandwidth' invoices from the supplier...deja vue anyone?

I don't think just because Fast4 has said "unlimited bandwidth" (and are they now the only ISP to say this and not have an AUP in their terms and conditions to say "but you can't use more than 10GB"?) its going to now mean a countdown to slow connections has started...

Actually, its happened many many times before.

There isnt a single ISP that has been going for over a year that has truely unlimited at anywhere near that price.

I challenge people to find one!

It may or may not be a slow meltdown, but something will happen.

A couple of resellers that tried offering unlimited ADSL max come to mind.

As I recall, EvolutionDsl (no nothing to do with eclipse) tried offering unlimited adsl max, although I think they were a fair bit more expensive. I believe due to the demand on their capacity, their wholesale supplier eventually had to revise prices/packages, to protect the services of other customers.

Also Ace Internet tried it for a few months too, also at a somewhat higher price point. I believe their wholesale supplier eventually introduced throttling as a temporary measure while ace revised their packages. I believe ace now have a fup and sustainable limits.

As I recall both companies said their unlimited offerings were sustainable at the time.

Even AOL now has a fup, and they have a fair percentage of customers on LLU which is cheaper than BT Ipstream.
