Downstream SNRM Drops

I wouldn't be surprised. There are many trees hitting the line, one day we will be back to square one. I have noticed that the SNRM can react, sometimes very quickly, to the sun's strength. That would probably back up your idea of the outer layer of the cable becoming exposed.

Ideally, you want to get all those trees trimmed well back before you force the ISP to get BTO in and replace the line (Councils like to play "pass the buck").
I hope none of them are in public spaces, because from experience, they tend to be the hardest to get sorted.
My main issue is on a commercial site - I just threatened to start sending the cable replacement bills to them every year if they didnt do something.

Ok, so most DS tones above ~400 are majorly impacted when the DS SNRM drops. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

I am not an expert, but I got told years ago that water inside a cable core acts as a sort of frequency cut off filter - it will let certain frequencies through without issue, but block others.
This was in relation to a leaking TV antenna cable though.
