Dslmax - How Fast It Can Go Up To ?

Here is the link to tell you how fast is your new dslmax up to 8Mb of what speed you would get around.

Useful url link:

http://www.dslzoneuk.net/maxspeed.php

Please note: Attenuation dB and Noise Margin (SNR) must be under downstream not upstream - you can find it on ADSL modem or router for that information.

I check mine as mine is
Speed: 2Mb
Attenuation dB : 36db
Noise Margin (SNR) : 31db
Result: 9.1Mb (look like I should get around 8Mb speed)

Bob2002 You'll get a maximum of 7150 kbits/second, 8 Mb is the bearer speed

how did you worked it out ?? In that case, I more than happy enough to get at least 7mb instead of 2mb speed lol:laugh:

I've just done a test on my line and it says the same 9.1meg but i know i can get a max of 6 with a SNR of 2db, I wouldnt trust it very much, also if your line says 31db that isnt accurate most of the time.

I'll take these figure with a pinch of salt.

I've just put in my current figures (2mb,43db,14 SNR) and it says 3.3mbps

However if I put in the figures I had when I was on 1mb a month ago (1mb, 43db, 25 SNR) I get a result of 6.4mbps.

Surely the 2 results should be similar as it's the same line ???

The results seem to be heavily dependent on the SNR.

Hi Nige,

Is the router plugged into the master socket or a extention, also are there any extentions wired into the back of the faceplate, as any of the internal wiring will be degrading the SNR level as yours i would of expected to be in the early 20's not down at 14db.

Att 51db
SNR 21db
Alleged max speed 6.3 megs, not that I believe it as these things are only ever right in theory not practice.

I'm taking this result with pinch of salt:

Current Speed: 512Kbps
Attenuation dB : 63dB
Noise Margin (SNR) : 21.5dB
Result: 2.4Mb

I'll be pleased if I can just get 1Mb - anything else will be a bonus. :D

Current Speed: 512Kbps
Attenuation dB : 63dB
Noise Margin (SNR) : 13dB
Result: 1.4Mb

I'm hoping the test is fairly accurate :) Like Unicast I'd be happy with 1mb

just had a retry with that and its totally inaccurate, gave myself a huge downstream attenuation (78dB) and it still says I could get over 8Mb

I tried it the other way with a huge s/n margin(99dB!!!!) and it returned over 28Mbps - faster than even ADSL2+

As for ADSL2+ I would get around up to 13Mb instead of 24Mb (that a massive loss of 11Mb) because of my exchange distance 1.36km away from where my BT line is and my line attenuation is 36db.

You all have to remember there are only 50 odd exchanges ready and BT are upgrading in batches so to complete the 5000 exchanges it could take a while.

 I knew it all along, we know what BT are like ... slow as a snail ... my dslmax could be ready by xmas day 2006

Mine has to be wrong. Im on 2mb and BT say i can only have 1mb LOL but i get the full speed but it says i can get a max of 2.9mb down and 7.3mb up.. is that correct?

Its James here from DSL ZoneUK. Please ignore the maxspeed page, as it is currently a work in progress and will return incorrect results still.

I'll let you know when its back to normal.

James
