e-mail stitch up

Does anyone else know that if you do not pay tiscali for broadband or pay as u go you cant use your e-mail address with them? switched from tiscali to sky in november and up until this week was still being billed for tiscali broadband. When i finally sorted this out they did close my account and also my e-mail address which i had for years and use for business. I now have to change all my business advertising or stay with tiscali on a pay as you go but i cant use the same e-mail address . Shame they dont tell you this in plain english when you sign up. customer service rating zero.

That depends; if the e-mail address was part of the broadband package you signed up with then Tiscali wouldn't be doing anything wrong by stopping it when your account was cancelled. Some ISP’s don’t do this but you can’t assume everybody will.

If your email address is all that important to you, and you have to change it anyway, I would suggest that you get yourself a domain address thereby bypassing dependence on an ISP.

Well since you are no longer paying them for a service, you can't expect them to provide you with one.

I am amazed that anyone in business could be so naive. As a business person yourself, I would have thought that
(a) you would understand the difference between "business" and "charity", and not expect a company to provide you with a service for nothing, and
(b) you would have investigated your options before you cancelled, and made the necessary arrangements to avoid disruption.

I don't give much for your chances of survival in the business world - there's something called "money" which is rather popular with people in business, and if you don't understand the use of it, you are likely to come badly unstuck.

I saw a company van recently with a Hotmail email address on it!

I guess *****@tiscali.co.uk is quite posh by comparison. Lol.

every time l see someones business card with some ISP based email l always shudder doing business with them, especially when they dont take their time to buy a proper domain, its not like it costs an arm and a leg anymore...

l pay $8 a year (thats like £4)
