E7 - Shame on me

I thought that E7 would actually free up my line on the 15th July (today). Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! Well I guess I should have known. Who was going to be working on a Saturday to release my line! E7 still has my line and reading the Ofcom website it looks like they will have it for another 10 days at least! I quote from the Ofcom site

“If your e-mail address looked like this: “username@e7broadband.com”, then:
1. If you wait until 14th of July, your connection to the E7even site will end. If you then wait 10 working days until 31st July, you will be able to re-order broadband by choosing a new provider. “

Has anybody had their line released yet? If you are not sure the ‘surfanytime’ website line check will tell you. The link is:
www.surfanytime.co.uk/signup/adslcheck.htm

For the Ofcom web page go to:
www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/internet/e7even/

Please note I am not recommending ‘Surfanytime’. Just using their line checker which gives very clear results.

When an ISP ceases an adsl circuit, it can then take a few days after that a new provider can order bb again after BT have confirmed the cancellation. Maybe that it why they mention the 10 days.

- Ofcom got that bit wrong  , they should have said authentication name. It has nothing to do with email addresses.

Apparently Sleezy DSL (186K) requested ceases on Friday evening for (at least some of) their Tiscali based, E7 hostages that they had failed to foist their contract upon. Unfortunately it seems BT can take 10 working days to complete the cease.

AOL and Eclipse have some interesting special offers on their websites at the moment - their cheapest packages both work out at £165 for the first year. Hopefully the ceases will complete while they are still available.

An open order has been placed on my @bbuk line, so I would guess all ex E7 customers should be free within the next 10 days.
Thank god for that!!! I hate dial-up as much as I hate E7

E7 - shame on me

Thanks for the posts good people. I checked my line today and the line check reports 'an order is being processed on my line'. It sounded to me like another provider was processing an order I had not authorised, but from what I've read here it is the line being released.
Thanks again
Paul

I too appreciate the information being provided by those who know how to extricate it. I am one of those people who lack technical expertise and rely too frequently on others. Thanks to ISPreview and MSE, I have gained enough info to be able to check my line myself and note that there are moves in place to remove the marker and expect that to be in 10 days or so. I have the 0800 0856 161 number to ring BT to do a double check. Further to that, I can get talktalk to update me as they were due to start me off on the 17th.

My means of connection is via our library.
