Easygroup launches mobile service

Doesnt seem to bad with 40% off call and txts until june.

You have to use £5 worth of useage every 3 months otherwise they can impose a charge of 75p.

It uses the T-Mobile network for coverage

£20 signup, which includes £20 of credit. It basically pay as you go so no bills and billing and accounts are all done online as well as top-ups.

You can even choose your own number during signup or search for one by entering the last 6 digits you want. I found that if you want it to say end in ..1234 for instance you should search by typing XX1234 in the box.

since its a fixed cost to any network i guess i may try it out, better than paying the 40p most payg operators charge (except 3).

This is in line with our commitment to all our customers that cost are reduced to a minimum and to the full advantage to customers that actively use our service.

One other note, there is a problem with Switch/Maestro cards on the website at present which they are aware of and fixing.

Emailed support a couple of question and got a reply in 6mins !

At the moment i'm afraid that we are not issuing Gold Numbers, this service
will be launched at the
begining of next week when they will be avaliable for purchase via the sign
up page on our website.

We are having trouble with accepting Switch cards and are awaiting feedback
from our
payment processing company. I have your email address and will contact you
when this problem has
been corrected which we are hoping will be within the next few days.

Im afraid that as we are an internet based company we will not be offering
the etopup facility.

Voicemail is charged at the standard call rate which is currently 9 pence
per minute.

I hope this answeres all your questions and i will be in contact with you
shortly concerning
the issue with Switch payment.

Yes i can do, will wait until next week to order as i need to use my switch card and want to get a gold number.

Impressed with the 6min response to my email though.. good start

They're just sat there, twiddling their thumbs, waiting for the customers... 6min reply would suggest they have too much time, staff, and not many customers.

mind you they have only been going 2 days.
Maybe they just want to be number 1

This looks to be the cheapest network going!

It looks like Fresh could be the cheapest while they do battle with easy :) , but depending on your usage pattern, you might also want to look at Tesco's mobile service:

20p/min any network, BUT only 10p/min to your 3 nominated 'favourite' numbers.

http://www.tescomobile.com/help/why_choose.aspx

I'm currently with Virgin and O2 at the moment (mainly 'cause I picked up some very, very cheap pay as you go phones off them and haven't used up all the credit yet).

I don't think much of the 40p fee to top up and the 75p fee if you don't spend 5 quid a month.

If anyones missed it Fresh (Carphonewarehouse) are doing an easymobile spoiler
7.5p/min to call any network, texts 2.5p for all customers (to be reviewed in 3 months time).

see:-

http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/co...geServer?ARTICLE=STATIC.FRESHNETWORK.FEB.PAYG

Incidently this offer is reportedly working by giving you double credit, rather than reducing the actual call charges, which means if you put plenty of credit on, half priced calls could last a lot longer than 3 months (unless they figure on taking unused double credit back!).

One thing to watch out with fresh though, if you don't make an outgoing call at least once every 60 days they will cut you off (and presumably steal your credit).

fresh - update

Looks like the fresh deal isn't anywhere as good as it first appeared, the free double credit expires after 30 days and you have to use up all the paid for credit before you can take advantage of it. As the minimum top-up is £10 you would have to make all £20 worth of calls in 30 days for the calls to have cost 7.5p per minute.

If you ask me, it makes the 7.5p/min claim rather misleading.

From their website (I think this has changed since I first read about the offer).

Any customer who tops up their fresh mobile sim or phone between March 11th and June 11th will have their credit matched by The Carphone Warehouse, meaning you effectively get calls for the half the original price per minute. The promotional credit is valid for 30 days from date of top-up and will only be decremented once the inital credit is used up. Top-ups by cash in store only.

Easy's response to the Fresh offer was..

"Fresh do not have prices like this - 7.5p calls and 2.5p texts.
What they do is double every thing that you top up, but the money need to be used within 30 days.
So if you top up £20 and get £40 you need to have used that within 30 days or the money is lost."

So basically the credits are time limited on fresh, easy they are not. So easy still seems to be very cheap and like the idea of getting itemised statements if you want one online. (Bit like Virgin)

EasyMobile revise prices and increase initial discount to 60%

Easymobile temporarily cut prices: it was rumoured they would make price reductions after launch in order to gain more publicity.

As with the elimination of certain charges, this offer is valid effective from the date of our launch. This means that the tariff for all calls, to any UK network at anytime, will be only 6p per minute and only 2p per text/SMS to any UK network at anytime.

Well i start with Easy from tuesday so we will see how i goes, complete with a gold number.

Easy does look good if you want a cheap PAYG service and already have the handset. Any ideas on their GPRS costs? Although it took ages for Virgin to stgart offering GPRS.
