EE EE Deals

The Plusnet plans are just standard offers, but with a discount automatically applied at checkout.
The Plusnet plans are still exclusive migratory offers for Plusnet customers. The additional discount was added recently as a last minute incentive to push people over before they finally pull the plug on Plusnet mobile.

You’ll not find the plan even without discount add-on anywhere on the EE website if you search for it. And if the staff on the phone were offering you to take it without the discount then they were being generous as if you’re not eligible for the offer they shouldn’t even be doing that for you.

I'd say its worth a shot, the worst they can do is say they can't complete the order.
But I wouldn't feel bad about doing it illegitimately since these companies don't care about you, so why should you care about them.
Yeah but, the order was under my mum's name because I'm under 18, so I can't do the credit check. My dad called them up but decided not to lie when they asked about being a Plusnet customer. So there's nothing I can do about it.

Do you think if they offered the plan again thereticaly that they would also apply multi-line discount? Just because there isn't the plans without the £2 discount on their website, doesn't mean it's not legit.

I'm 16 and passed a credit check online sayig i was 18 ahaha

I thought EE would have pulled these Plusnet deals by now.

Not normally known for their bargains.

Little lesson for the future. Don't lie on credit checks. Your answers are recorded on your credit file and any inconsitancies will flag up in the future.
I think I've put my age as older as I am on IRS tax forms before which I don't think is an issue right?

Wouldn't bother to try lying on a credit check tbh anyways

Very much this. When you turn 18 and actually need to legitimately apply for credit you’re potentially going to have some problems when they discover the discrepancy.

It’s not a smart thing to do.

The names of the plans are Plusnet exclusives. Even without the £2 bonus discount. It’s designed for PN Mobile users who haven’t migrated yet.

And that depends really. If you’re not applying any other discount you might get away with multi line discounts. But most agents won’t allow stacking.

Nephew did this with EE, not only is the default still on his credit file from when he couldn’t pay it, it’s an account with a different DOB then his actual one, so when he turned 18 a few years ago he wasn’t able to get credit cards and the likes because it was flagging up that an incorrect DOB was being used

If your within your 14 days, cancel it and hope for the best

While cancelling is the right thing to do, it won't actually fix the problem. The credit search has taken place now and wouldn't be removed. And since that was the first search this person now has a credit file that exists in their name but with the wrong DOB. That will remain regardless.

While this is true, since my credit file doesn't actually exist since i'm not of age, they actually cannot find my file and as my spend cap is 0, they are able to use other factors to determine if i'm legit, and as my age is of a student and I'm linking to a student bank account + student discount, they would accept otherwise. This can be confirmed as actually looking at my file (which you can access below 18 if you ask your bank and get confirmation from your parents), nothing shows other than the usual government child tax credits, etc. and opening bank accounts.

It’ll show up on Equifax, banks and lenders will be able to see it with TransUnion but you won’t

But your file does actually exist. You have told EE that you are 18 and applied for credit. That application and hard credit search would be the trigger for the creation of a credit file in your name at your address with the falsified birth date.

When you turn 18 and try to apply for credit elswhere there will be another file created with someone of the same name and address but with a different birthdate. This will be immediately flagged as suspicious.

But your credit file now does exist since lying about your age and telling them you were old enough.

This doesn't just go away and get replaced when you turn 18 and apply with your real date of birth. All searches and accounts from now on will flag up against this file and creditors will see this discrepancy. Most fraud prevention checks will not like seeing this.

What your bank says they can see is almost certainly different to the credit reference agencies in the UK hold about you. It would be foolish to assume you're in the clear even if your issues aren't yet apparent and likely won't be until you reach 18+ and try to apply for credit. We're almost certainly not talking about you going to prison or anything but we are talking about serious difficulty in applying for any kind of credit or financial accounts in future.

EDIT - Someone beat me to it!

It’s also the same bank account for the direct debit, not sure if that will get flagged with a credit file but it might if you try to return to EE

You can always just tell them your mistake and then ask for the account to get removed from the CRAs.. there’s a few articles where this happened

One thing you don't mess with in life is your credit history / file. Never lie on credit applications. You can very easily do irreperable damage to your credit rating that will never go away. You can mess up your chances of ever getting a mortgage amongst many other things.

That and they could add a CIFAS marker to your record which will make getting even a basic bank account difficult.

It's interesting to learn all this since I was completely unaware, I haven't thankfully tried applying for credit in any sort, just put the wrong age on an IRS form but it's definitely interesting to see the consequences of things

Unless you get a CCJ the limit is 6 years isn’t it?

This might be different though, since he’d essentially make two files risking they’d be merged when his legitimate accounts (e.g banks) start to report his account in a few years
