EE Fair Usage - How often is it enforced?

I'd like to know what EE would consider "abuse" as the term is so loosely used in their FUP.

I can hedge a guess but.... also this term saying they could move you onto a more appropriate contract but what's more appropriate than the already unlimited contract that i'd be paying for?

EE make this very confusing.
I'm guessing that you'll be guessing correctly... an unlimited contract that costs more (or, if you don't accept that, then I'm sure they'd happily say goodbye to your custom (since you'd be costing them too much))

I suppose so, although i'd hope it would be cost free being forced to say goodbye

I would think so, as they'd be the ones terminating your contract, rather than you leaving early (and paying early termination)

EE make this very confusing.

I think this is by design. They make it all very ambigous so they have a lot of grey area to use to their advantage when dealing with abusers.

I should probably know this as I used to work for them back in 2012, maybe i'm being naïve thinking they'd have changed by now.... Obviously not!

Well, that's just my opinion, could well be wrong. Don't take as scripture what some random dude writes on the internet. :)

Just received my Unlimited Sim only, slapped it into my existing 4G router and getting speeds between 60/100Mbs download and 60Mbs upload!

Also my pings are 25ms or less now, connecting to LTE-A mast which is not far from my house Cell ID - 3264512

Putting this into cellmapper shows its the mast I thought it would be, very happy with the improved pings. Only downside is no public IP meaning I can't use my server outside the house anymore... not without a VPN anyway.

@Lucian

@Lucian Can you shed some light on this?

I'm logged into My EE and its showing that I am using a 100GB allowance and I have 89GBs remaining?

Saying acquired on the 15th of June?

I only got the sim today like 2 hours ago, whats up with that?

@sof006 that's very annoying and misleading... naughty EE.

That's just data you can "gift", ie if you have another contract on your account, you can give it some of your data, up to 100GB..

It should also say you have "umlimited data" once you login..

It does, at the top and says "You've used xxGBs of data" obviously I am downloading a game on Steam so this number is increasing at the same rate the shared data of 100GB is decreasing

Ah so... I just talked to Haris on EE live chat and he was helpful. I think I understand now? Its definitely unlimited data but the way My EE displays this is very... confusing/misleading? Not misleading in the sense that its not unlimited but in the sense that you're running out of data when you aren't in fact running out of data.

Its very alarming to see "100GBs allowance" and that its decreasing steadily as you use it when at the top of the page it says "You have unlimited data".

Here is some information left by Haris, which I hope he doesn't mind me sharing.

Haris:
Yes, you are not sharing and you are using it right?

Haris:
So once you will used all 100GB data then you sill will be able to use unlimited in your plan but won't be able to share in case you want to share.

Haris:
You won't run out of the data as you have unlimited data in your plan so you dont need to worry about it.

What hes saying here is that if you don't share the data it gets used up first by yourself, after which that sharable data is gone and you can't share it to other devices. This is falling under the pretence the sim is being used in a phone. When the "shared" data is gone it defaults to just saying unlimited, however any attempts to "tether" a device won't work.

That is my understanding at least....

This has been debated here without a proper conclusion.
IMHO I wouldn't worry about this, I really doubt they have a way to check and if you are not exaggerating it should be fine.

@sof006 Honestly I do not know. As I said before I went over 1TB several times and nothing happened so.. fingers crossed. :)
