Not sure this is news as they've been offering this package as 'Busiest Home' for a while. Wait until more people get the SH3 and find it can't handle the 1.6Gbps connection..even the ports themselves are only 1Gbps.

£79.99 👀

The BT-owned brand is now offering an option called "Broadband Made for Gamers" which gives 1.6Gbps download speeds along with a new EE Smart Hub Plus router which features a unique Game Mode.
EE has introduced a brand-new tariff for customers who are gamers. The BT-owned brand is now offering an option called "Broadband Made for Gamers" which gives 1.6Gbps download speeds along with a new EE Smart Hub Plus router which features a unique Game Mode.

The new exclusive bundle comes with the UK’s most reliable broadband technology – Full Fibre, delivering a connection of 1.6Gbps / EE’s most advanced router - EE Smart Hub Plus featuring Game Mode / as well Smart WiFi Plus to ensure gamers have lightning-fast speeds in every corner of their home.

The bundle is complete with 24-months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate included worth almost £200 in total, giving players access to hundreds of games. Sam Kemp, Director of Gaming at EE, commented: “By introducing Broadband Made for Gamers, we’re taking the next step in our ambition to become the number one destination for gaming in the UK, with a broadband package tailored to enhance in-game experiences.

Wonder how these shenanigans fair against Net Neutrality, I know BT are keen to dismantle that post-brexit.

One of my fedi mutuals (Yaseen) posted this into my timeline the other day, didn't realised they were repackaging this and thought it was old news

The game mode stuff isn't exactly new though and a few people seem to be pointing that out specifically, afaik game/work mode has been there since the launch of new EE?

I think it’s a local setting that prioritises the traffic rather than at network level but happy to be corrected.

There’s gaming and also work mode which is supposed to prioritise Team and Zoom calls.

I used Teams at work and got complaints I would drop in and out a lot with it activated.

Yep - nice to see they’ve hiked the price up for £69.99 too. 😉

A 1.8gbps connection isnt going to need to prioritise traffic, I remember other networking products in the past that fiddled with traffic not doing very well.

Aye definitely not for a home connection at that speed.

Oh, I forgot to mention the ‘ping optimiser’ as well, does nothing.

it's a VPN service I believe from a third-party, can't remember who but if you're close to the Data center it isn't going to help much

As far as I can tell the home-working version doesn’t do anything helpful.

The price of the package is currently discounted on the EE website to £74.99.
