EE low speed

My latest speedtest.
Been having problems with EE/Orange for years. Atm, i am apparently in the 10 day BT line reset period and my speed started off at 2.8mbps and has gradually decreased to the 0.7 mbps that I am now receiving. EE have been most unhelpful, fobbing me off with ******** at every opportunity, as I call them regularly due to a constantly fluctuating speed which is usually below 1mb for the whole time I have used this company as my ISP. Surely I am receiving internet speeds below their contractual minimum and am entitled to terminate my contract and expect compensation for paying for a service I do not receive. I will wait for the ******** 10 day line stabilization period to finish and then demand my contract to be terminated if my optimum speed of 8mb is nowhere near reached.
Have any of you had similar experiences and if so, what would you recommend I do?

I'm with them for my line due to price mainly. No speed issues.

Best bet to get them to do anything is to bypass the indian callcentre.

Email UK here.

By "my optimum speed of 8mb" do you mean that your line has actually delivered this before on EE/Orange or are you talking about the raw capability of the ADSLMax connection itself?

It might help if you posted your router stats (attenuation, snr / noise margin etc.) as that way we can tell you a little more about what might be happening.

It could be EE’s fault but usually it’s something to do with BT Openreach’s underlying infrastructure or your home wiring.

Hi Mark.

I've been told by EE that my line supports up to 8mb and the highest I've had through the line is just under 7mb which I would be ecstatic with if I had it regularly or even a consistent 2 - 5mb would be nice.
My 10 day stabilization period is now up and I am still receiving 700kbps so will be on the phone to them as soon as I finish work.
I have a good general knowledge of computers and internet but I'm afraid you'll need to explain to me how to get my router stats to post.
Thanks very much for your reply.

Ah no the 8Mbps figure is the best that a Market 1 ADSLMax line can deliver, so you shouldn't expect to actually get 8Mbps. Stick your phone number in here (without spaces) and then submit it and wait for a minute..

It should return an estimate for your ADSL MAX line and this will be more realistic (if you also get an estimate for ADSL2+ below then I'm wrong and you're not in a market 1 area, which means your line could support potentially faster speeds).

As for router stats, well you really need to hunt down a manual for this. It's usually a case of loading your web browser, putting in something like http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 (note: not all routers use the same GATEWAY IP address), logging in and then hunting for the connection stats around the various menus (attenuation etc.).

If you haven't done this before then your router probably has a default login/password setup and you'll need to get that from the manual or whichever company made it.

Thanks for your advice but i can't seem to get your link to work.

They may have changed the email address? That one used to work.

Re: Mark asking for stats... Which Router do you have? If you are in 10 day training I'm guessing you may have a brightbox?

If so the address is 192.168.1.1 Logon info came on a card in the box.

As soon as you log on to the router the stats are found by going to the advanced tab, accept the warning, click system then adsl status.

Hope this helps.
