Thank you for the replies, I will email cmlink first to ensure both volte and WiFi calling are active. It may have been the phone it was being used in that reduced the call quality. Pretty happy with the pricing on cmlink tbh just cautious about the feedback from friends.
If you can ensure that VoLTE and WiFi calling are enabled then you should be good to go. Which phone are you using?

Will be iPhone 14 Pro, I had tested it in a Samsung s8, I think that may have been the problem.
Yes this could have been. If you give it a whirl in your 14 Pro and just make sure WiFi calling is enabled and working and that calls stay on 4G when made/received.

I have a query about new EE mast installs, I've seen in Madeley, Telford EE have put up a new mast on Wrekin View by the Abraham Darby School (site 12072).

I didn't get a picture, but it only has a single array of lower band antennas, instead of the classic double stack 4G / 5G antennas on previous EE / Three antennas.

Also, at the base there is EE cabinets, but i can see any three cabinets, is this normal now?

Also, there is room for two sets of N78 antennas, but only one set are installed.

From Cellmapper I can see this was a joint EE/Three site, are Three removing themselves from MBNL sites on new installs?

We have seen this on a few MBNL sites in Telford but mainly Three. The MIMO panels are installed at a later date. Really not sure why that is the case. Is it stock levels at Ericsson maybe, not sure.

It massively delays the activation process of the mast though. If it is a new site and it has MEWP on the planning application, it generally means they're installing the MIMO panels at the top.

MBNL has disbanded, EE and Three decided to go their own way. Those two sites you have mentioned have been sanctioned by EE, not MBNL. Up until last year, any MBNL sanctioned site had Three or EE panel access should they require it. In Telford we have a couple of double stacked sites, International Centre and Red Lake being the two main ones. The later had EE 5G equipment installed at a later date, 18 months after Three.

What we're seeing in Telford now is mainly Three building the poles (looks like they may have stopped now though) and not allowing EE access and the last couple being EE, the ones you mentioned above with no Three access. They both agreed to do their own thing so any new builds are single MNO access. https://www.mobileworldlive.com/featured-content/home-banner/bt-3-uk-refocus-network-joint-venture/

Current MBNL sites will be upgraded by one or the other operator, not sure if there is a gentlemen's agreement to make sure there is twin network access on the poles. Seems silly putting two poles up next to each other.

Thanks for the info, I did see this last year, but i thought it only applied to new sites. As I've seen sites like Wellington Centre come online with both EE & Three on them.

So this means for example, that mast which used to have Three on it, will no longer have Three on it? Despite all the new builds in Telford, that will surely put a dent on their coverage in Madeley and Woodside.

EE are currently doing investigation work on a new mast in Shawbirch area of Telford, if that becomes EE only, that will cause a big coverage issue for Three, despite all their new mast building around the Hospital and Brooklands.

It does only apply to new builds.

The Wellington site was actioned by MBNL I believe. It was pre MBNL split so yes, both carriers will be on there.

Current MBNL sites will either be upgraded by EE or Three and then the second network will arrange their own upgrade or as we have seen in some cases, not.

With the Shawbirch site, if it is a shared site, you would expect Three to join it but in some cases, we have seen Three decide not too.

Ah right i see, that makes sense, it will be interesting who actually does the upgrade on Shawbirch, as Three have the original planning application on that site from 2022, but EE have been doing the trial digs on the site.

I've noticed Three have finally put a Phase 9 in at Ironbridge park and ride site, I assume it is not active yet, i did see that it only has two N78 Antennas on the mast pointing towards lightmoor, they've left the one off the direction of the car park.

I haven't been up and seen that site but they have been trying for a couple of years to get it approved.

So it's not transmitting into the Gorge at all?

Is the Shawbirch site a brand new build then? I thought they had one by the petrol station?

I have two MBNL questions for anyone that is in the know below.............

If it was originally an Orange or T-Mobile site, does that mean Three can't upgrade them?

If it is a shared pole and Three decide to upgrade it first, do EE now have to build a new site? I haven't see any sign of shared roadside Phase 8 / 9 sites locally since the MBNL announcement was made.

(My knowledge of Tesco’s operations comes from a friend who worked there and in conversation comparing things vs my firsthand experience of T-Mobile/EE… So you’ll probably know much better than me what Tesco do/did for these things)
Everything was migrated to Salesforce around 3 years ago so this would likely be on their older system called Trust. I've never seen it as I wasn't with the company at that time.

Referrals is run by O2 so not handled on the Tesco side. It's possible that there could be a link there.

Tesco still do Traditional contracts although they're only on cheaper devices. These ones are a fixed 24 months vs the flexible 36 months from Anytime Upgrade.

Here's some examples:
  • Doro 6820 - £7.50/mo with unlimited mins+texts, 500MB data
  • Moto e14 - £8/mo with 500MB data (also available with 3GB for £10.50/mo)
  • And more Moto, TCL, Nokia devices available up to £12/mo.
It helps keep them competitive at the sub-£10 price point.

Are they EUX models?
Yes they are. There has been the odd occasion where stock needed to be pulled in from abroad (like with the Galaxy A53) but all devices were automatically updated to receive the UK (EU) profiles and features.

Anyone else finding their voicemail has stopped working on 1pMobile after switching on Visual Voicemail? The message comes up but no log of the voicemail appears, can't seem to hear my greeting either, it just says "Retrieving greeting..." Normal voicemail works fine!

It doesn’t work for me when I use a DNS profile for ad blocking. Possibly the same if you use a VPN (not tested).

Aha, I’m using both of those! Thanks! I’ll keep VV off for now, hopefully they’ll fix it!

Just thought, would this happen on every provider if you use a DNS profile?

EDIT: Just removed the ad blocking profile and it's working again. How annoying!

It only seems to affect 1p Mobile. My guess would be that since they are using the same carrier profile as EE, there is some sort of redirect going on that the DNS profile is blocking. I checked my logs, but there is nothing showing as blocked, so I've also gone back to regular voicemail for now.

It was only installed in the last couple of weeks, so i can't imagine it being ready yet, I think it will on the other bands, just not on N78 or less they add another antenna towards the gorge. But to be honest, given the location, I'd be surprised if it covered Ironbridge at all, the Phase 9 by the hospital has such a small footprint, it begs the question why it was installed in the first place, i have the same thoughts about the site at Ironbridge.

The Shawbirch site is an existing MBNL site, it's the one by the petrol station, but they have been doing some digs around the existing location for the new cabinets.

The MBNL coverage is good there without the mast. The mast in Lightmoor and Buildwas covers it well. There is also the big site in Rushton, albeit usually saturated on Three. You also have the Heath Hill mast that towers over the area.

I guess EE is served from all of those masts plus 3,7,20 on top of The Wrekin, which Three does not broadcast from.

I see the planning app has gone in for the Three site near Leaton.

Why not just use The Wrekin. Seems strange to me.

I am intrigued to see what happens with the Shawbirch mast now. I wonder if Three will build a new site elsewhere.

Generally if EE are all over the planning application then it's just going to be them broadcasting from there.
