Ee router issues

The local mast is ee only and shares the mast with the ESN and only uses 800mhz

Some neighbours have had issues with their ee-issued routers which ee say do not have the ability to use the 800mhz band

Is this true or is it the typical first-line support ignorance?

I thought the ee routers were variations on the Huawei b535 which can use all the usual 4G bands?

Perhaps it's not the router that doesn't support B20 (I'd think most would these days, given it's a widely used band) but rather it's EE not allowing the device to connect to B20 as it's not being seen as a VoLTE permitted device (usually VoLTE is necessary for phones because the 800mhz signal travels further and deeper than EE's 3G on 2100mhz and 2G on 1800mhz)

I think there were two versions of the Huawei B618 router, which until quite recently was a very good and popular router - and which EE did supply at one point. The 22d version did cover the 800MHz band but the 65d didn't. Both were sold on Amazon UK amongst other outlets and its quite possible that people bought the 65d without realizing the implications and thinking it was the same as the EE supplied version.
