Wow.
But now only with speed caps, which doesn't make any sense to me
Oh, for sure they’re bonkers, the data allowances are strange on the 1m contracts. Feels like a return to treating SIMO customers like the poor relation. But now only with speed caps, which doesn't make any sense to me![]()
Their business is basically all about lock in and bundling. Even to the point of family plans.Oh, for sure they’re bonkers, the data allowances are strange on the 1m contracts. Feels like a return to treating SIMO customers like the poor relation.

Personally I don't know why people go for it...
Jon Morris mentioned on DS forum that he'd had a message from EE to say his deal had expired even though it was perpetual and he was being moved to a more expensive plan or to contact retentions.Industry going the wrong way, Ofcom will likely not do anything though. Luckily my retention deal didnt expire with the end of my last recontract (deal is perpetual) and I suspect that will remain much better than their advertised packages for several years.
Hmm, I will keep the forum updated if similar happens to me.Jon Morris mentioned on DS forum that he'd had a message from EE to say his deal had expired even though it was perpetual and he was being moved to a more expensive plan or to contact retentions.
Could be a sign they're going after some people on older deals with non-expiring discounts.
Luckily it seems most of the EE network can barely handle 100mbps anyway.I don’t know why they are limiting you to 100mb speeds on high priced contracts. I understand on the lower end. The unlimited speed is way too expensive also locked into 24 months and price rises. Bring back the old days where there was no price increase for your full 12 months contract
The Voda-Three merger will create a viable competitor to EE.
They already had 2 MVNO’s BT Mobile and Plusnet Mobile if they wanted to join the bargain basement. I don’t understand why they closed it down! They need to have one of these mvno as all the other networks are benefiting from it.It's playing into the hands of the MVNO's, especially 1p.
It makes me wonder if EE will try and buy them and have them as their bargain basement option like Three have Smarty and VF Voxi.
I intend on PAC'ing over to 1p / EE next month but I won't pay over the odds so I will probably end up on 1p.
They don't want low ARPU, simple as. It's about quality not quantity for themThey already had 2 MVNO’s BT Mobile and Plusnet Mobile if they wanted to join the bargain basement. I understand they need traffic management but just enforce it to high bandwidth users who use over the fair use policy 600GB then limit the speed to 10mb.
Exactly this. They're already the best rated network in the country according to most if not all the benchmarks (Rootmetrics, Opensignal etc), the UK market is pretty saturated anyway and EE has the biggest (or second biggest) subscriber count. There's no real reason to be chasing low paying or price sensitive customers, they're in a good position to chase sustainable profit generation instead. They don't want low ARPU, simple as.
