EE's assumed purpose for the 100Mbps products is to differentiate and upsell products that users will rarely actually utilise fully.Yep, check my previous posts, I think 100mbit customers are deprioritised when a cell is deemed to be under heavy load, I have done a fair bit of testing, comparing sims etc.
At a network level it moderates the volatility of traffic. If the percentage on Max speeds is only a small percentage then the probability of a particular mast being excessively hit my max users is lower.
I have two EE SIMs one on 100Mbps and the other unrestricted and bizarrely I can move data allowance either way which is very useful. Near mast I have seen little difference other than the Max can pull much higher speeds (if available).
The only time I have seen a difference is when the actual devices (not SIMs) have decided to lock onto different frequencies or CA combinations.
The mast equipment should be managing the congestion and I would suggest it is more likely the Max product would be restricted and minimum connectivity for all users VoLTE, 10, 100 and Max would be the priority.
Mobile reliability is bad since 3G closure. Certain EE masts do not perform as before and I get EE texts all the time regarding "problem in your area" and "now cleared".
A lot of the issue is they alter one mast but it takes time to then reset/upgrade the settings on adjacent masts.
Its a mess out there on all of them and O2 has to be the worst currently.
Turn on my dual device, dual SIM and Speedify no issue.
