EE Smart 5G Hub disconnect problems

Hi all!

I have used month to month EE 5G uncapped for a few months on the Huawei CPE Pro (v1) no problem, great speeds but lack of 464xlat was a bother (I am pro ipv6)

Last week (6th) I opted to take an EE contract where you get the 5G router included - the Smart 5G Hub https://shop.ee.co.uk/dongles/pay-monthly-mobile-broadband/smart-5g-hub/details

Unfortunately the internet keeps disconnecting randomly (router shows as connected but no traffic) and you have to restart the router. So far today this has happened 3 times (screenshot attached of what the router status shows when this happens)

I have plugged my old month to month Huawei CPE pro back in to compare, so far today no disconnects! (both running at the same time on different wifi networks)

My question is has anyone else experienced this, and since I am in the 14 day cool off should I return the router etc rather than go through the pain of dealing with EE support to resolve this

My Uncapped month to month contract has not been cancelled yet, and worked perfect apart from the lack of ipv6 which I can live with.

PS I didnt go into too much technical info but any questions please fire away!

what ipv6 dns are you using, my settings on my openwrt zte mf286d are:

Code:
config interface 'wan'
option proto 'qmi'
option device '/dev/cdc-wdm0'
option apn 'everywhere'
option auth 'none'
option ipv6 '1'
option pdptype 'ipv6'

config interface 'clat'
option proto '464xlat'

        option delegate '0'
        option ip6prefix '64:ff9b::/96'

At the moment I have stopped using the ipv6 side when the problems started* , but afaik their router took care of the xlat tunnels etc
When I was using ipv6 I was using cloudflare dns, as the ipv4 traffic would work as usual using their tunnel using normal dns resolution
DNS64 worked also if I used their router as my dns server

Thanks for posting your config, gives me something to play around with on the month to month connection , would be awesome if one of my 5g routers could be flashed with openwrt

* I use a mikrotik router between my network and the 5g routers, and as they only allocate a /64 ipv6 prefix I have to use ipv6 nat on the mikrotik , with a dhcp6 client on the 5g interface

Thought I would give an update in case anyone else runs into this issue

EE have refused to swap the modem , they let me send it in and they did an update and sent it back saying all is well.

The issues summary:
- Frequent issues with the traffic on the connection just stopping for a few mins
- 5G early morning freezes

On the 5G freezing side after reading about the mobile companies sleeping certain bands in the evenings/off peak I believe this router doesnt handle this gracefully .
Normally occurs 2-3 am every 1-3 days

The traffic stopping I think I have narrowed it down to the router having a limit to the number of connections it can track in its state table (Nat / firewall).
I have not been able to figure out the exact limit , but it may be influenced by packet rate and free memory.
If I send all my traffic via a vpn this issue does not occur as the router only sees one connection going out.

With the EE sim card in my old Huawei CPE pro these 2 issues dont occur, but I dont think this router can do as many bands as the EE one, or the EE has superior antenna's as the speeds are much lower.

How Old was your 4/5G Unlimited Data Contract, as All new UL Data Contracts are now Speed Capped at 600gb per Month (FUP)

Its about 6 months old, this issue persists though even after my "cap" resets when I look at the useage on my acc (for me its on the 15th)

On the Huawei CPE I have used over 1tb and not noticed a slow down
