EE Unlimited Data sim

Is it safe to use a EE unlimited data calls and text sim in my unlocked Huawei B535 Router or will I get issues?

Is there a limit to how many devices I can use at once or does EE just see it as one connection coming from the router?

Thanks
Hi Steve-2019, I'm using my EE SIM in a router with all sorts of streaming devices, security cameras, smart plugs and and Xbox etc, no problems for me at all.

Had the sim in plenty of different routers without any problems, so I guess you should be just fine.

Have plenty of devices connected (20-30) with no problems at all.

This is the one I ordered

No problems with that. 2 mentions though.
1 - you could have got it much cheaper from amazon

2 - depending where you are you could get better speeds in a more performant router such as huawei b818 or zte mf286d. If you have 5g in your area speeds could go even higher with the right device.

Thanks just trying to work out an issue I'm having. Quite a few of my devices won't connect to the Internet but they connect to the network.

Any ideas what's going on? All I did was swap a 3 sim out with the EE sim.

Tried a hard reset but still the same

Eg my alexa devices won't connect to the net and my hue hub and blink hub won't.

Phones have all connected and firesticks and access points

Is there a difference with a phone ee unlimited sim and a dedicated data ee sim?

Thanks

Does the pre loaded sim work good? I read people saying it was throttled speeds . Thanks

Might be down to CGNAT issues, my Philips Hue hub won't work via the EE router, so I have to have it connected to my three router using the 3internet APN.

Afaik they are not throttled.

Re connectivity try to modify the apn and set it to ipv4 only .

I'm guessing does that mean you need to pay for a 3 sim card as well?
Yes I have unlimited accounts with both three and EE Steve-2019.
Got good deals at £10 pm each via Scancom and Money Saving Experts. (y)

If that was a rolling monthly contract, would have been a banger of a deal.
Well EE was prepaid and 3 was a 2 year contract benparker, but delighted at getting unlimited from the 2 big boys for that price.

I hate lengthy contracts buf for a tenner I could live with it.:giggle:

My three is up in August next year so goodness knows what will be available then. 😁

Though may be not getting 1,600 page bills is a good idea:

That's almost Yellow Pages size.

Will give the methods suggested a try tonight.

Also read to set the dns to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

If no joy what's the 14 cooling off period like with ee? I took the contract out 10 days ago but the sim only arrived yesterday due to strikes .

Is it from the day the sim is first used?

Thanks

I'd cancel it if you can't get it working.

Hi Steve, just to add my experience for info. Like The Wee Bear I have also purchased a prepaid unlimited EE sim via Amazon (Seller is Scancom). These services are not functioning on my home network:

  • WiFi Calling / Whatsapp voicecalls
  • Smart TV streaming services (Netflix, Apple TV, Youtube).
  • WiFi security cameras
  • Spotify streaming via Chromecast audio
My laptop and iPhone connects to the internet and gets up to 100Mb down (might be capped at 100Mb?) and can stream all services, just the WiFi calling / Whatsapp that isn't working. My wife can't connect to her company's servers via VPN either.

I am using a Huawei B535-333 and am not getting an external IPv4 address, only IPv6. I have even tried some of the excellent suggestions from @EssexBoy on the EE forum (including changing APN to force IPv4 but no joy as won't connect).

Pop an EE PAYG or Three sim in, boom. No problems and everything works. So the preloaded sim from Scancom is perhaps not able to use IPv4 (I think EE might have switched it off in favour of IPv6 on in 2018, maybe just on data only sims but this is only a guess). Or, as @The Wee Bear says it might be CGNAT issues. I have tried a DDNS via the router but couldn't get that to work and my router only supports slower VPN protocols which may solve the issue.
