EO Lines - Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

Does anyone know whether Openreach has yet come up with a solution to Exchange Only lines problem.

Is it that difficult of have one of OR's plastic joint boxes adapted to take both copper and fibre connectors to give customers in remote areas a reasonable level of broadband service.

They've had a solution for a long time and have been deploying it to cover hundreds of thousands of connections. The main problem is that yes, it really is very difficult and expensive to resolve EOLs. Openreach has to conduct a slow, complex and expensive network rearrangement to deploy FTTC and / or FTTP into an area. Often even when they do this then it may not be economically possible to reach every single property in the same area, which can result in an ugly patch-work of coverage.

Solutions always exist, it's just a matter of who pays.

Thanks Mark. We do have FTTC at the exchange and there is a fibre cable that runs in the same OR ducting that supplies properties along its route, whether this can be used is impossible to say. Is there anyway that OR could be asked about this via my MSP or MP?

Another approach is to gather those together who are in the same boat and try to seek a Community Fibre Partnership quote from OR.
