Exchange down the road has Broadband but ours doesn't (HELP)

Ok i live in an area where we have two exchange's and they split the area's around us to the different exchange's. I have just found out that people that my girlfriend work with live about 1 mile down the road are able to get broadband, and found out that they are connected to the exchange which has had broadband for about a year now, and we are connected to the one which doesn't get broadband until July next year!!

So i phoned BT this morning to ask if we can get connected to that exchange because we do advertising and the isdn line is too slow now, and we really need broadband as quick as possible now!!

So is there anyway that i can get this done, or am i going to have to wait another 10 months before we can possible get broadband??

Any help would be great!!

Thanks everyone :D

BT won't change your exchange for ADSL (though I have heard of exchange changes before - just can't remember what the mitigating factor was). About your only hope is to set up a wireless link to somebody connected to the other exchange - line of sight required probably. :)

You can always go for a satellite connection until you can get broadband, we offer short term contracts and the cheapest service on the market.

You can get more information at www.getbroadbandanywhere.com

Trouble is, is i work from home so i use the connection for other things as well like online gaming, and the latency is usally too bad for this type of thing, which is a shame because if it wasn't then i would drop BT in a drop of a hat, as i think the why they have worked with adsl is horrible. They could have had everything setup a year ago, if they hadn't carried on with the stupid trigger level rubbish, which in the end they scrapped all together!

Thank you for trying to help, alot more then what BT are doing at the moment!!

I wouldn't mind i had to tell the BT engineer that came to fix our line a week ago, that BT had dropped the distance on 512k broadband, that is right after he told me that broadband can only work upto 6km away, and can not in anyway go any further!

Try sending an email to BTs CEO explaining your problem he does tend to help as much as he can and others who failed to get BB have since had it after he has intervention..

I have his email address if you would like it PM me.

Just a thought ............. I wonder what they (BT) would do if you said that you wanted a second line put in, but ....... it was only required for ADSL????

If it worked you could always drop the first line .........

they'd prob say that ADSL isnt avaiable on his exchange. Sorry to be so negative but it looks like your in for the wait. You'd prob be best to take Micronet up for a few months un till you get adsl. Ther equipment is very cheap to pickup and im sure our friends at Micronet would be able to give you a short contract.

The 'other' exchange he referred to in his original post IS enabled.
