4G and 5G do very well with reflected signal, often the better location is one where the signal bounces around a bit, it's not very intuitive and makes all the hard work of getting the thing on top of a pole a bit useless and frustrating. My experiments with the H312 have almost come to an end. When I log in, apparently I'm getting a good 5G signal but it is highly dependent upon the rotation of the pole, and thus the router. This must contain a very directional aerial.
I was surprised when I took it down and into my garage, that I was getting as good download speeds as when it was at the top of the pole! Moreover I am gettingView attachment 12597
better download speeds from another Huawei router, sitting inside a cupboard, in a bedroom!
Maybe 4G rules in this neighbourhood.

For me some of the best signal is not on top of the roof or in the loft, it's just under the first floor window..
It also depends on your area, if you are urban, there'll be loads of good signals around and what I said above may apply, but if you are rural and remote, then the rules change and doing what @MrTwinky2 suggested makes more sense and at that point a parabolic high up is the best.
